i've lost total self confidence now...
I lost to a CLK 430...that's totally understanable because it's a v8.... but last night on the highway i lost to a C class...i don't know how but my car didn't keep up with him. and no it wasn't AMG

it was about 3 am coming back from a club when i noticed a mercedes c class tail gating me. i had two other friends in the car...so i down shifted to 3 gear and floored it....i was leading for abot 20 seconds then he just flew by me
i was so ashamed.... i will never race again...any car.... never ever

 

Dang! I was going to say get a header, CAI and header but you already got them. Are you sure they weren't spraying?

 

I think there was a post quite recently about a base C that beat out a TLS with just a few mods. Try to do a search for it.

 

Was it the new 6-spd C320? Those are nicely geared to beat out a TL-S on the highway .. it doesn't matter that we have more hp .. since they're pretty much putting down "similar" (not identical.. similar) w/ much better gearing thru a manual gear box ...

Plus .. if you were racing towards the end of your 3rd gear.. beginnng of 4th .. you're toast.

You mentioned you put it in 3rd and floored it for 20 seconds .. so you HAD to have shifted into 4th .. Plus .. how many people were in your car? How many people were in the Mercedes? Soooo many factors... so little explanation....

 

oh and.. SLAP YOURSELF INTO REALITY .. quit crying .. your racing days are FAR FROM OVER!! Get ahold of yourself, quitcher*****in' and saddle up .. there are plenty of 330Ci's and GS300's that need to be trounced and stomped on ... now go out there and kill some bimmers...

 

I have a buddy at work that has a C320 coupe, with six speed and the wheel package, and we race a little from time to time and i have never lost to him, not once and i have a TL-p! I think that person must have modded that car or you shifted at the wrong time.

You were probably racing the CLK 500 and did not know it!

This guy probably had 5 people in his TL-S .. barely caught the tail end of 3rd.. and lost to an underpowered, overpriced Mercedes w/ one dude in it...

 

Try the AMG C43... Or even a plain C230 Kompressor with boost upgrades, it'll run much faster than a stock TL-S...

 

there are aftermarket tuners that can make comparable (usually more) power to AMG, brabus.... other than that only AMG will take tlS at any speed, the 240 is a freakin joke, waste of v6, the 320 is 215hp plus it's a pig and the 230 is a super4, 180 I believe...

 

even the CLK430 should have been a good race until about 115. not sure what to tell you!

I'm going to assume you were over a hundred, and if so, trying to run a Benz of any ilk at these speeds is a bad idea.
While you may get them from 0-115mph for a c230/40 or a c280/320, on the highway is where those cars are meant to run. Our car's fourth gear sucks total @$$ and any of these cars should stick around or pull on you here...Some mods and they would be leaving you...
Thinking of hanging around on the highway with the clk430 was simply a "momentary and total lack of reason" on your part. My mom's new s series (forget if it is a 400 or 420 or what, but it's a freakin' limo looking thing) is a decent accelerating car from a stop, cannot keep up with me at all, but by 110mph or so creeps up and goes right around me in a hurry...
Anything with AMG will also be chocked up in the loss column...

Before you go hang yourself, think that maybe it was a debadged AMG. There's an Audi here in town with aftermarket wheels and is debadged and it is an upgraded A4...If that doesn't do the trick, go find and Mustang GT when you get down to about a 1/4 tank and find a good stretch entering a curvacious onramp to the highway and leave him crying. You'll feel much better then!

 

i'm not saying we can't beat these cars but never underestimate german power.

 

a type s will take any c off the line, you just have to watch out for the 230k with a 6 speed on the highways

One of the worst times I've ever been a$$raped was by a C43 on the highway. Not even remotely close. Even in my top end of second and third gear powerband was I even staying around with it...

The only AMG we can hang w/ is the C36 (1994,1995) .. 276hp C-class w/ a beefed up I-6... the only reason I know we can hang is cuz I did from a stop exactly two years ago when my car had about 2000 miles on it. We actually went from a roll from 10mph .. otherwise he'd have me out of the hole. To 100mph he was 1 car length ahead of me.. yes, i still lost.

Out of the whole, ANY rwd can beat us out. I don't know what types of super sticky slicks you racecar drivers are running on your TypeS's ..but i've got the stock *****elins.. and when I FLOOR IT.. i sit there for about 1 second before I make any forward progress... RWD is beating me by 1 car length at this point... from a roll.. if I hang in 1st w/ the gateshift .. I'm good to boot .. i can hang w/ some cars in my class....

Must have been a C430 that cars much quicker than the C320 cant beat that V8 muscle. When are we going to have a V8 from Honda?

 

C43 is a V8 C-class...C320 came in 2001+

I drove to Las vegas the other week, i was passed up by a C230 no AMG it was a brand new one .... it was a lady... and this was at around 100-130 mph

she was tailiing me so I got in the other lane and see if she could pass me up... apparently she could... and I mean she pulled on me quick.

Yeah probably had some work done, people in bmw 330 Ci's and Acura TL's do not look happy when the lose to a Galant either. But this one is supercharged!!!!!

I finally understand why Acura and Bmw owners get extremely pissed when they loose to cars that arent in the luxury class. I mean you pay top price for something that offers some of the best in performance and power and then you get beat by some everyday day car thats not even in your league.

I only mention that because I raced a TL Types, hot looking baby blue dropped I pulled up to him on the high at about 65 he looked over and gunned it he had about a two car the lead for about 7 seconds then I just flew by and he was 5 car lengths from then on and I never looked back. I slowed down thinking I get a thumbs up or nod like good ****, oooh no I got a finger alright and middle finger. :lol: He happened to be going the same place I was and he pulled in to this mall parking lot and the first things out of his mouth was "How the **** did you beat". At this point I didnt say two words, popped the hood and he just looked and after that, him loosing to Galant made it ok.

I mean was all that ignorant nonsense really necessary, but like I said before I understand now. If I had an Acura and Im paying top dollar I better be beating everything thats not in my price range.

I almost bought a used C43 when I got rid of my TLS. What a beast that thing was! A little C class with a 302 hp V8 that sounded funking awesome!!

 

I like how you blew your own horn and veiled it in humility, righteousness and innocence. You need to get a grip. Who cares if you beat a TLS? Who cares if you drive a galant? Who cares if you got the finger. TLS's can get beat any day by a car with the right mods. I've seen a Civ beat a Viper - SO WHAT! If you've got the $$$ then yeah you can beat a TL or BMW or whatever. Surely the fact that you have a smaller, "near entry-level", import leaves you with more options for MODs. Lucky you. Shouldn't an after market supercharger on a car the size of yours allow you to kill even alot sports cars? BTW is the Galant in the same price range as the TL? NO! Starting price is below $18K. And yes the TL does beat most cars in its price range. So what! Oh and you got the finger "oh pobrecito!" Everybody here encounters a$$holes everyday, it means very little this one was driving a TL. The guy obviously doesn't understand street racing. Or probably much about cars either. TL's are not race cars, they're just fast family cars. I've been killed by my friends B18c honda hatchback. But I didn't get pissed, we popped the hoods gave our props and got back on the track. jeez guys, a stock TL-S is not that fast for real... Don't cry because you lost, time to get some mods if you're really going to race. Even with my nitrous, I still lose to many cars at the track. I only run 13.5's... That's what some cars run stock... Don't under-estimate any cars is what I'm saying... I have lost to a 11 sec Civic and I had no clue until he crossed the finish line when I was probably still at 1/8 mile...

First of all, I wasn’t fishing for complements or anything like that. Second, I didn’t post here to take joy and revel in the fact that I beat a Type S. If I did would have posted in the racing forum. Third the whole point I was trying to make was people think that just because they have a certain emblem on there car means they own the road!!! And I said I could see why they think that way considering the price people some people pay for there cars. I wasn’t event trying to say the Galant was even in the same league as the Type S. Sorry I don’t live in a dream world I know the Galant and Mitsubishi in general are far from luxury!!!! I’m on these boards only because my older brother got an Acura TL and I want to help him out and make his car better and he’s not into looking on club sites online for deals or aftermarket parts or what’s good for the car so I do it for him.

And now I remember why I don’t post on these forums in the first place because people like (JaDia4) try to turn everything into a battle or act like everyone who comes on this board that drives something other than an Acura is just some clown who joined the forum just to tell Acura owners “hey I beat an Acura”. Just because a few trolls have done that in the past does not mean I’m one of them, stop being so defensive. The transition from 3rd to 4th sucks so bad because no matter if you hold the rev's until fuel cutoff, you'll still shift out of VTEC for 4th gear

I raced a RSX-S w/ an AEM intake and had it by a carlength or more until we hit 4th. I fell out of lift and he came right up beside me again....

 

german power is underrated.
