Lost a race & won a race against 2 different S2000s

Since people have been accusing TL drivers of never saying they lose a race ... I'll post my loss story (along with my win)

Was coming home from work this afternoon and was behind an S2000 ... The road turns into 2 lanes after the light so we both moved over into the right lane (which just formed) and we gunned it ...

I was staying with him for the most part until we had to slowdown for traffic and move into the left lane. Then I forgot to downshift from 3rd to 2nd and by the time I downshifted he had already pulled away ... Wasn't too polite about the race, cuz he waved "goodbye" as he pulled away ... He pulled away from me real quick though which I was surprised at...

I thought I had a decent chance against him cuz he had 1 passenger and the top down ... If I didn't forget to downshift he probably wouldn't have pulled away from me so bad though...

Later that day I was out with my roommate and I drove past a light blue S2000 with a carbon fiber hood with air scoops on it.

We stopped at a light, with him behind me and he revved his engine ... I revved back a bit (doesn't sound as nice when the engine cuts off at ~4500 rpms)... And when the light turned green I took off and I had about 3-4 car lengths on him as I was midway through 2nd and was pulling ... Dunno if he had a bad launch or what but I was surprised that I took him after losing to the other S2000 ... Maybe just luck of the draw, who knows

Anyways ... my two race stories for the week

I find it very hard to believe that a TL can beat an S2000. I have driven an S2000 and damn its so much faster than our TLs...

hmm, i have both a 99 stock TL-P and an 03 S2000, on the runway at work with laser measuring (we do that for testing airplane take off speeds, works on cars too).. both are nearly equal in acceleration, the S2000 being a bit quicker, mainly due to the stick shift, the S2000 pulls away faster after a bit tho, which can be 'blamed' on the higher RPM range. Oh, and that was while being driven by a collegue who races for a hobby, and he can handle both the SS and the stick VERY well.

S2000 sounds awesome during accels like that

The S2000 is a very nice car but to get the FULL performance of that car you have to do extreme take offs at very high RPM so much more than our TLS that if the person driving the S2000 don't do it more than likely he/she will loose.
Now if you do it right it will be a little hard for us to win but in either case we will not loose by much.

Incase anyone was curious (you can check it out in my sig though), I have a TL-S with an icebox and handling mods ... headers haven't been put in yet.

If the TL-P and S2000 are about equal in acceleration (which sounds a little hard to believe considering 225hp and ~3400 lbs / 5spd auto versus 240hp and ~2800 lbs / 6 speed... but...). Then I'd assume the TL-S and S2000 would be even more "equal" in a race.

I always thought, driven properly the S2000 is faster than the TL-S easily ... but its not an easy car to launch properly to get the magazine type of times.
