Unhappy LOOSE Chassis

I own a 2000 TL with 36K miles on it. THe car rules but in the last 5K miles, the car feels a lot loose. The suspension is loose. Noise from the suspension is prevalent. Are you guys experiencing this too?

Also, how much would it cost to install anti-sway bars?

I've got a 2000 TL with 39K miles and no suspension problems at all. Also, this is the first I have heard of this sort of problem, but then again, maybe some others have it but haven't said anything. Sway bars are pretty easy to put on, but if you take it to a shop, they shouldn't charge more than an hours labor...

Thanks for the info. I am planning to get some anti-sways this weekend and have them installed. I wonder if the dealer would install them for me.

As for the loose chassis problem, i think it is probably due to a lot of highway driving and crappy roads. Also, the shocks have become much softer which is probably normal.

One question though. Is there a tie bar for the rear struts? I know the front has one in the engine bay. I was thinking about replacing it with a new and stronger one.

An upper tie bar (if that's what you are referring to) for the rear shock towers is not possible. The rear shock towers are hidden beneath the rear seat posts. You'd have to tear apart the top of the rear seats to have a bar in place. That's why you haven't seen any rear upper tie bar made for TL, CL-S, or Accord V6.

Tim sells strut tower bars here as well as sway bars. Just click on the "suspension" link at the top of this page.

JohnnyB and t-rd. Thanks for the info. I found someone to add the anti-sway bars for free as a favor. The front strut tie bar seems easy to do but afraid that if i remove one bolt, then i might f*** up the suspension.

I willbe ordering from Tim soon.

Also, i went into for maintenance on my 2000 TL for a remote starter problem. I was given a brand new loaner. It was a 2002 TL Type S. I was like "WOW". This car freakin rules. GO ACURA.

I kinda feel that my car is not up to par cuz of the noises in the car and rattle here and there. Also, it is not as tight as it should be. BUt with 36K miles on it, perhaps i am just being picky.

LOVE THIS FORUM !!!

Is that a factory remote starter? I guess that is one less option that my TL came with

Actually, the company is called ASTRO START. It was an option the dealer offered me when i bought the car.

It has great range. I work on the 7th floor of my office building and can start a car roughly 1000 feet away.

The remote has 3 batteries and there is a antenna mesh in the windshield which picks up the signal real good.

Costed me about 400 bucks. I love it for chicago winters.
