Looking for Rotors

Whats up everyone, 1st post here... I'll be looking for a decent set of front rotors this weekend but I'm wondering if the stock calipers would fit on some of the rotors like, the drilled or slotted ones. At what point would a certain style of rotor require a different caliper per say. Any info would be greatly appreciated. ty.

see the many threads discussing the CONS of cros-drilled rotors

Slotted rotors rock- if you buy quality- not the ebayers which warp easy

Go to the top of this page and click Off Topic
then halfway down that page is Sponsored Sales
Look for ads by Excelerate and MrHeelToe
for excellent products
Good brakes cost money~

You have to order really good brakes, and it takes a week to ship to you- they are 40 lbs for the pair so on the ground shipping method

You can buy local cheap stuff if you're in desperate need today

You would want an OE replacement slotted rotor so that it will work with your stock caliper. ROTORA sells a great slotted rotor. Combined with a good set of pads like Hawk HPS, ROTORA ceramics, or EBC Greenstuff your braking will improve. Also stainless steel brake lines will help firmen the brake pedal.

Another option would be the Racingbrake rotors that HeelToe sells in the Off-Topic > Vendor Sales section. I have them and happy with the quality / performance.

thanks for the responses. I may go for the brembo blanks, I do want to kill my budget as I'm doing other work to the car. I'm hoping the brembo blanks fit a stock caliper.... thanks again.

I love my RacingBrakes with the new EP300 pads on them too!
in this case the OP was looking at a more budget minded setup

If you are going to use blanks, I would just use Autozone cheapies. When using a stock rotor, there are extremely marginal benefits in spending the extra money. You buy it for peace of mind. On the flipside, Autozone has a lifetime warranty. Thats some serious peace of mind.

For what its worth, some ITR Honda Challenge folks use cheap rotors with an aggressive racing pad for their setup!

I did a full brake job on my '99 TL a few months ago and I'm extremely pleased with the "Centric" brand rotors I selected. These are gaining popularity and notoriety in many circles because of their high quality and reasonable price. I have them on my Acura and BMW.

My big reason for choosing Centric for a stock "street" rotor is that they come from the factory with the hubs or "rotor hats" painted black. My TL sits outside and is exposed to road salt. Typically, the rotor hubs rust very quickly, even with quality rotors like Brembo. I've had the Centrics on for about 4 months and they still look perfectly new. Autopartswarehouse.com has them for $65 front and $33 rear with free shipping.

Ted Nelson, Customer: But why do they put a guarantee on the box?
Tommy: Because they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of sh*t. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time. But for now, for your customer's sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product from me.

i love that movie

I do not necessarily agree to the above statement. One, the TL wasnt designed to be driven hard, although it can be. Under normal driving conditions and correct break in procedure, there should be no reason why we/you should keep coming back to warranty rotors.
