Looking into getting a Compustar 2wFM-AS Alarm, NEED SOME ASSISTANCE

hey guys,

I'm looking into putting on a Compustar 2wFM-AS alarm into my car. I have a few questions though.

1) To the people who use this alarm, is it worth the money? Has it really helped you? Also, how's the range on the remote? is it really up to 1/4 mile like they claim???

2) I'm looking into a place who sends over a techy to install the alarm in your driveway. He's charging me 650 CDN, all in, and that's with installation. Does that price seem high to you guys? If you have a place who can do it for less, let me know of it. Phone number and name will be sufficient.

3) Do you guys suggest any other brand of aftermarket alarms available in Canada? If so, direct me to the right person/place to inquire about that product.

thanks guys. Always appreciated.

Hey SC354,

I have the Compustar 2WFM-AS installed in my '99 and it's awesome.

First off..in terms of range (downtown Montreal) I can get up 0.5km range which is awesome especially with all the interference downtown. This model is supposed to have up to 1km range assuming that you have absolutely nothing between the remote and the car.

Secondly.....the price of $650 installed is pretty steep. I got mine installed by someone that works for the Compustar distributor here in Montreal and he charged me $450 installed. He know's what he's doing as well 'cause he's got a TL-S himself.

If ever you're planning on coming up to Montreal, give me a holla and I'll get you hooked up.

BTW he gives amazing after sale service as well...I had a problem with not being able to disarm the alarm and just to be safe he replaced my remote and my antenna for me free of charge.
