Question Looking for dynos before and after header and icebox install

Hey all,

I understand that after the installation of headers and icebox, our cars stand to gain roughly 40 HP at the crank. But what about HP at the wheels? I'm guessing that the headers and the icebox together weigh about 150 lbs. With that in mind, would the weight cancel out the HP gains?

No, definitely does not cancel out the gains in anyway. I think your weight estimate is also high.

If you do a search you should find dynos before and after with headers as there are several. As for the Icebox, I've only seen one good dyno with it and it showed 12hp gain peak to the wheels. All of the header dynos I see show anywhere from 26-28hp at the wheel peak. Once ACL.com comes back full time you can also check the dyno forum over there since the CL and TL dyno the same.

Oh sweet, that's 40 hp at the wheel? I thought it was at the crank. That's much better than I thought. I'll check out ACL when it's back up. Thanks Junior.

No problem.... just keep in mind that you can't really add gains together b/c mods work together and the gains may overlap. Figure with an Icebox and Headers you'd probably be getting closer to 35hp peak at the wheel.

Remember that you are replacing parts, not adding parts so there is really no weight increase. In fact, the stock header/manifold and A-Pipe may weight more along with the stock intake. So in the end there may be a slight weight decrease.
