Brightest or most light output to the road? There's a difference. If you want it to LOOK brighter by other people, get 6000k, or i think they make 8000k too, but dont expect to see much of the road with the 8000k's. You might want to go with the 6000k's. They look really bright and still have adequate light output to the road.

This is how I understand it: The 6000K - 8000K number represents the color of the light (across the light spectrum). The illumination is measured in lumens. Some bulbs in order to get the higher "K" number filter out the light frequencies on the lower part of the light spectrum. By doing so, light output or lumens is reduced. It's sometimes a balance between having white light and good illumination (lumens). You actually want both numbers to be high - not just the "K" number.

actually 4100K, 6000K, 8000K all represent the temperature inside the bulb. (hence it gets really hot). 4100K is the optimal temp for which you get most luminescence. as you go higher, ure going to lose lighting but ull get closer to purplish color. go with the 6000K in my opinion. 80% lighting of 4100K is still a lot and it might actually look like you can see more because the ground is whiter with the 6000K bulbs.

6000k is the proper choice since your stock ballasts can handle that.

Just out of curiosity can the ballasts handle the 8000Ks? I know a guy who knows another guy who has 8000Ks on his TL....supposed to meet him tonight.

uh, dude, that's not true. those numbers are the COLOR temperature, different from THERMAL temperature.

4300k, 6000k, 8000k, they all burn at the same THERMAL temperature, but their COLOR temperatures are different.

if you want to prove it, convert 4300k, 6000k, and 8000k to Fahrenheit. Your car would melt if those were THERMAL temperatures.

you should have no problems. The bulbs still run at 35w, and the ballast just regulates the power. I think it is the gas mixture that is different.

it's not like going from regular 35w halogens to super 100w halogens, where the bulbs actually pull more power.

6000K is bluer, not whiter. The higher up in K you go, the less useable light you will have, and more of a blue tint. I like the way the 6000K bulbs look on the TL, I'd go that route.

Oh, you wanna be very specific, huh? Philips 6000Ks has more purple hue where other brand like Osram has blue color.

get the 6000k's they are the best color upgrade while keeping the brightness of the stock lights. if you go any higher, you will lose visibility.

If I'm not mistaken I don't think our ballast can handle 8000K's.

IMO, 6000K is perfect!

8000 k is just asking to get pulled over..

And you get less brightness and give more glare to other passengers..

Look at the 4100k Bulb in this Prelude BELOW:

THAT SH|T IS BRIGHT AS HELL..

If you want the perfect brightness but also want more of a blueish tint, GET 6000k.. Its a good Compromise between 4000k - 8000k

Don't even go looking for 8000K unless if you want the brightness of a halogen bulb. Some of you guys need to do your homework. Different light bulbs have different light color on the road with the same color temp (K) rating. Some 6000K look blue, purple, and very purple. Heck, some 5000K bulbs even look green.

Just make sure the HID bulb you get is OEM D2R replacement that's genuine and not home-made.

I believe between 4100k-4300K. Pretty much all auto makers spec their rides that way. That range is brightest in the Kelvin spectum
