join the club. me too. Now I wonder if my extended warranty was a waste. I acually PAID for a 100k warranty specifically for the tranny.

What are you mad about? Isn't it a good thing you got that letter? That means your TL is covered, unlike our 99 TLs.

I'm mad it took this long to acknowledge something is wrong. EVERY time my TL has been in for service they flushed the tranny and claimed it fixed all the wierdshifting i was experiencing....still no D5 light though

Yeah, it really sucks that the 99's aren't covered. I know they are different transmissions but they still suck. Or at least mine does. My tranny's been f**ked up since around 20-25k miles and I now have 56k. It sucks that the majority of the time you are going to have your car, you are not satisfied with the way it drives. I'm planning on keeping this car as long as I can.

We also have a 99 Corolla(which was a mistake from the beginning) w/65k miles and a 94 Accord w/180k miles on it. We are getting rid of one of them to buy a new car and because we love the car so much, and it drives soooo well, we are keeping the Accord. That goes to show how much we love/loved Honda. Our next car will definately not be part of the Honda family. They lost a loyal customer.

Acura says u will feel this or that but they have not been in a car that has had a tranny go bad.

D5 sucks in town and at slower speeds. Kinda feels like the auto mustang GT I drove. I dont think the mustang could pick a gear. D5 would be all over the gear spectrum at 35-40mph. D4 seems to be much better for me and on the car.

15,400 miles and tranny is still ticken

Call your warranty company. You may be able to get out of it. I believe they will prorate you the difference.

Yep. You're covered even if you never got a letter. The letter is simply informing the consumer of the potential problem. If you had a transmission failure, they would put your VIN in the computer and see if you're covered anyway. You can do that yourself as well by going to the Acura website and signing up for the Owner's Link . Once you enter in all your information (and your VIN) you will see any pertinent information about your vehicle, including recalls and service campaigns. As long as it says you are covered there, then Acura will find the same when they look it up.

Now if you enter your information and it says you are *not* covered and you believe you should be, you'll need to call Acura Client Services and explain your case.

Got mine today. I haven't been reading the boards lately, so this was the first time I was aware of this. Though I didn't have any tranny problems like so many here have, I was getting nervous about hitting the 50k mile mark. This definitely lets me breathe a sigh of relief, and I'd like to thank those on here that took the time to call or write letters to Acura about their tranny problems. I believe it's those people (plus that article in the LA times) that got Acura to take action about the trannies.

OK, so now who's tempted to go to the dealer at 99k miles and get their trannies replaced?

edgalang - I also paid for the 100k warranty for the same reason. I have an 03 TL-S and my tranny died, so I called Acura to ***** at them. I then mentioned that I already paid for the extended warranty so there tranny warranty was worthless to me and that I got ripped. I then said it would only be fair if they reimbursed me for the tranny portion that they are now offering for free.......Well, I received my check on Friday for exactly 50% of what I paid for my extended warranty......(I think it helped that my tranny failed and that I had something to yell about, but hey, it's worth a shot!)

We got two last week...one for my '02 and the other for my mom's '00. It's kinda good to know for sure that we'll be covered but it still sucks because now it feels like our trannies will fail for sure :o
