Long tube headers on a j32a1?

How well would long tube headers work on a 2002 Acura TL-p. Reason I'm asking I recently came across a custom exhaust shop and I thought it would be a fun thing to do.

It would be fantastic.. I think there are a couple confirmed in the wild and the performance gains are well worth it, The problem is the space for the rear bank and the clearance issues in the bottom.

You got a point about the rear back and the clearance but a good custom exhaust shop should be able to work around it. I hope lol

Also do you think it would affect emissions at all?

I cant really say Never done it and the guys who did it clearly were catless so I dunno if you can go Long Headers and keep the Cat since the long headers need to be in even length they push the cat to the rear of the car. You will need to re-design the whole exhaust system for it to fit properly.

You see this is why we can't have nice things

you have a TL-P so I don't think the gains are going to be worth the money.

You can however get an O2 extension wire online and just have the cat further down. I did.

That could work. I would go catless but Maryland doesn't take to kindly to that at the emissions station

You can also make them futureproof so they fit a J32A2 eventually hence they will fit a J35 too.

This is only partially true. The primaries on the specific side/head need to be equal length, not the same length as one bank to the other.

Headers do make a huge difference in power on these motors. BUT like you said, will it be worth the money? They are likely going to cost 1k+ (should if they are actually quality)

Well I do believe they would have to be custom made right?

Yes, they will have to be custom made. Unless you know the shop and they are going to cut you one hell of a deal or can make them yourself the big question is going to be is it worth the cost? It will run most likely over 1k for 25-30 hp. For 3-500 bucks you could buy a J35A3 and type-s cams and drop it in in a long saturday and make as much or more power. Headers on that motor would make a big difference though.

I mean I could do it myself. The problem is I don't have the tools (welder) or the workspace to do it in. Plus over a thousand for headers does seem a little far fetched and kind of unnecessary. Maybe when I win the lottery so what headers would be the best for our cars?
