I did the same thing last week. I used low gloss paint though. It makes its look so much cleaner under there.

After painting the pipe, how long do you have to let it dry?? I'm thinking of doing mines this weekend.. but I want to know how long will I have to wait and not drive my car??

It dries pretty quick. Read the can it should tell you. I think BBQ paint dries quicker.

Cool

Thanks.. I'm headed to Kragen tomorrow to pick up the 500 degree paint..

I know you guys used flat black.. but do you think aluminum(silver) paint would look retarded on that pipe?? Cuz I want to use that for my front bulbs as well.. I didn't want to buy more than one can if I didn't have to..

I'll have to check it out in the morning. I can't see by the pixs that it would be that noticeable without being on a lift.

I'm thinking the same thing, as I've also painted my bulbs silver like u suggested Edub. Try it first, then I'll try it.

Odd, if I were to ever paint anything, Id paint the plastic engine shield and battery cover. I never even noticed that the y-pipe looked fugly enough to paint it black. Am I missing something here?

Do you have to cover the other parts under the car with apper or nething? Or can you just go under there and start spraying, carefully?

before

after

as you can tell took about 15 min max. and I used the high temp grill paint from home depot. If you look closly at night under a honda/acura v6 from behind, that has dual exhaust you will notice they are all rusted. so i decided to paint mine.
