Lights & Sirens for EMS - anyone with experience?
Hey guys,
I'm on a local EMS squad and the way we are dispatched is with 2-ways, and we get to go to calls in our private cars (for quicker response times).
So I gotta hook myself up with L&S (I'm gonna go LED). Anyone with experience in this?I'd love to do it myself...
Here's a pic of me and my '02-S....

I didn't realize I had it so big! (I'm on triple 24 inch monitors)
Can anyone resize that for me? I'm on the Studio comp. and no imaging programs for me

Haha - there, did it.
And if you need to scroll right - get a bigger monitor!!
(I added some nice photoshop filters too under those smokin' TL wheels :-)
Yes - this is all legal. We have a fleet of EMT's and medics (about 120 of us) and we don't do shifts. Just private guys like me responding (with full equipment) legally with red and blue L&S, strobes, wigwags etc... It's actually legally called an "Ambulance service vehicle", and we can run stop signs, red lights, etc... basically anything an ambulance can do, we can.
Of course, this is only for valid medical emergencies. "Code 2" calls (lower priority) are done without unnecessary speed and L&S.
The system works amazingly well. Our response time is the highest of any EMS system in the country (under 2 minutes on average). This is due to the sheer nature of the way it's setup. The chances of having an available member close-by is very great. This can really mean the difference between life and death! Think about your heart attack victim. 4-6 minutes = brain death. So it really is a great system....

I had a whelen 4 strobe power supply running 4 clear strobe tubes running in my show car back in the day...Dom's unit is more complicated to install (Non-pnp that is!) than these strobe kits. Makes for great emergency warning when your standard hazards won't do! Easy to mount in the rear lights of the 3gTL however headlights are a different story. No matter how much you seal those headlights after you've opened them...they will EVENTUALLY leak! I think I"ll stick with the hazards for now until I get bored!
