lights
hello,
when doing mods to the lights on a car you all talk about clearing them out and making them white or whatever color, how do i go about doing this, do i need to buy new lights or just the plastic parts that cover the lights. and what are HID lights, im new with car lingo and mods. anything is appreciated.

clearing headlights usually means removing the orange strip. the easiest method involves replacing the stock unit with an aftermarket unit that does not contain the strip. however, if none are available, then this requires you to split apart the stock housing to remove the strip, and then resealing it with silicone. the ghetto way is putting a colored vinyl sticker over the lens, but you can make this look good if the strip is no where near the middle of the lens.
HID stands for "high intensity discharge". the brightness of the lights involves igniting a gas inside a bulb instead of lighting a filament in normal halogen bulbs (if i am not mistaken).

i think i have seen aftermarket clears for the cl's, but there is probably nothing for the 2002 tl's because it is so new. i do think there are aftermarket clears (from seeing user pic posts) for the pre-2001s but i am not really sure. you can wait if you have a 2002 (don't know how long though), or try making clear headlamps yoruself using the stock unit.
