License Plate holder/cover

I was just wondering if anyone made a nice license plate cover for Acura's. My brother just got a new cover for his BMW and it is a black plastic trim with a plexi cover. Is there anything out there like this for Acura's?

Different dealers carry different covers. I've seen some I really like and some that seem pretty pointless. Like, the ones that say Acura in some fancy script writing....? What's the point? Personally I like a clean, basic chrome with nothing written on it at all. How many times do I need the guy behind me to read "Acura"? Once is enough

I used the one the dealer provided and turned it inside out. Only the outside edge and the two clips on the bottom edge of the frame are visible. It make for a very clean and finished appearance.

This way the plate sits inside a frame and does not rattle while driving or cut me when I wash the car. I also keeps the metal from contacting any painted surfaces, although, unfortunately the license plate frame does still contact the "bumps" intended for this purpose.

I did not see the point of restating that my car was an Acura. It was also not worth it to me to spend $30 plus for a frame. Plus, the plexi units usually yellow over trime or collect dirt behind them.

I have my back plate covered using a clear weather shield. No frames at all....just the plate and a plasic cover protecting it from weather and would be thieves of registration stickers. If I didnt use a weather shield I would of gotten a license plate reflector (the ones used against flash photography), but those run for at least 30 bucks, mine costed 8.

Not to sound anal or anything, but--correct me if I'm wrong--I believe it is illegal in California to put any kind of material or cover over a license plate--CVC 5201(e). You can however use a clear cover to cover your registration tabs--CVC 5201(e)(2)--among other exceptions, none of which apparently apply to this thread.

Just a public service announcement to those of you who may wonder what other nitpicky laws are out there that cops can get you for (I speak from personal experience, unfortunately)...

HMmm....I knew it was illegal to place anything that would intentionally deflect light (so that your plate wont show up in pics when using a flash) but I never knew about the ANYTHING clause. Either way, this is clear and all it does is protect it from water, dirt, or whatever. THe only thing is that you would have to unscrew it off to replace the stickers. Oh well........all i know is mine looks good

Autosport.com has a nice set - be aware that you'll need new screws to hold any plate holder thicker than the plastic POS the dealer throws in. You'll need 30mm bolts about twice as long as the car comes with.

Again, each state is different. In MA you cannot have *any* covering over the plate, including plain old clear plastic or glass.

Well, the license plate cover law does suck--I mean, geez, we're talking only clear plastic. It's not like it's gonna make it difficult for someone to read your plate if need be. But then again, what do I know about the optics of clear plastic...

I guess I shouldn't be talking--somehow, the front license plate bracket on my TL-S is "missing"...

A while back, someone posted a picture of and link to a really nice frame -- black or chrome quality metal with a tempered glass cover. I had some question about whether the glass was a good idea on the front, but it looked very sweet. About $50 if I remember correctly.
