So you have to take off the bumper to remove the fog lamps? I was hoping that wasn't the case. I need to do this to mine too since there's a hole in both and I'm sure the chrome is corroded. Thanks for the nice write up.

What your problem is?
No, there is a 10mm bolt that hold it in place, you can access the bolt from under the car, right behind the front bumper...

props + shameless self-promo.
rajca, fantastic DIY, I wish I would have remembered it when I decided to do mine.
I could have avoided a few mistakes. The result is well worth it for whoever decides to undertake this project.
Result.

My fog light glass was shattered by a rock so I need to do this. However I plan on putting in a Kaixen HID kit for my fog lamps. Does anyone know the operating temperature of the HID bulbs? I don't want to go through this work to have it melt on me.

The glare shield I'm guessing reduces glare.
Try metallic silver paint but I also believe that Autozone or Advance sells a chrome paint IIRC.

Baking it won't do u any good. I've tried it. Nothing happened. Check out my diy on how to do it. U have to crack the class and then rough up the chrome or completely remove the chrome paint (or what ever it is). get some chrome paint and repaint them. Glare shield provides more out put on the ground (if adjusted)

To the OP, thanks for the DIY. I'll be trying this myself in a few days.

Just got around to doing this today. Came out great...can't wait to get some nice yellow Fog lights in there now. I wasn't satisfied in how i cut the Lexan though, it came up a little short which ended up needing more silicone and a little messy. It's only noticeable up close though.

I did this last week. I painted the inside and trim black with a soft gloss. They came out great! It was hard to cut the lexan cuz I only had a dremel cutting tool but the out come was worth the time spent.
The light output is bad but I also wet sanded the headlights so that helped.
Thanks guys for the great info!!

Hey so im reading this thread and im noticing that you guys have great fogs and hid fogs. I have a 2nd gen CL and im looking to throw some hids in my road lamp housings. Could anyone one here help me out a bit on what king of hid bulb would fit in the housing and how i would be able to turn on/off since my 01 CL doesn't have a fog light on/off switch inside?

There is just 1 single 10mm bolt holding the Housing (Its beneath the Housing itself) into the Bumper once you get that Off then Push the Housing from behing the bumper OUT!
Once you got the Bolt out the Entire housing Is just holded by a Plastic Hinge that needs a little pressure to let go..
