IMO, 91 octane fuel, is 91 octane fuel, is 91 octane fuel. Any differences is due to the hwy/city driving percentages or how frequently someone has their foot in it.

I track mpg on every tank and I consistently get 21 - 22 mpg.

it all depends on where you live.not all the fuel across the us is the same.
i just drove 453 miles to a tank and filled it up and put 13.87 gallons in with 76, 93 octane. it was 98% hwy.
typically you will get less mileage in the winter due to the winter blends. i know i see atleast a 50-90miles less per tank difference in the winter

Agreed. There's a difference between summer and winter blends, but not between Exxon's 91 octane winter blend and Union76's 91 octane winter blend.

yes gas is gas...honestly, my dad works for Chevron Phillips chemicals, and he really agrees that there really isnt any differences between gas from the major producers. The mileage you get depends on how you drive...and the terrain you drive on.

i have a 2001 tl with 74k miles
i use 93 octane gas from shell (down here we only have 87,89, and 93, no 91)
i get about anywhere from 280-305 miles per tank, and i drive about 30% highway, 70%city.
i used to get about 270 miles before the light turned on, but i moved out of the suburbs....

2. Exxon 91
3. 30/70
4. 340-350

average 25mpg the majority of the time but then again I don't floor the TL unless I need to

I can get more than 30mpg on long hwy trips to San Antonio

I never get below 350 miles to the gas light. I either use Shell V-Power or Sam's Club gas, all 93 octane. Around 55% city/45% hwy. 2000 TLP with 100,032 miles.

2003 TL

400 miles or more until the gas light.

I tend to get 31 to 33 mpg. Mostly freeway.

BTW, regular gas. Premium is only an absolute on the Type S.

My 1999 TLP Owner's Manual says. "Your Acura is designed to operate on premium unleaded gasoline, with a pump octane of 91 or higher. Use of a lower octane gasoline can cause a persistent, heavy metallic rapping noise in the engine that can lead to mechanical damage." Sounds absolute to me or are you referring to TLPs from other years?

It CAN. But the J series (except Type S and '05 RL) is designed to take regular just fine with a little bit of reduced performance.

Example:

2003 - 2005 Accords J30 engine runs regular just fine. But.. it will take premium and GAIN horsepower (about 10 or 15). This is straight from the mouths of Honda engineers. So do a reverse of that. 225 hp - 10 or 15 hp = 215/210 hp. I can accept that. These engines run on a decent compression ratio and are advanced enough to accept all types of octanes without harm.

You only need premium in your TL if knocking occurs but I really doubt it will. Again, Type S TL's are a different story as they run higher compression.

As for my '97 TL, I run premium in it.

thats around how much i get. but then again we're mostly city driving. Im traveling back and forth from New York City to Jersey City. Even then, there's nothing but traffic on the highways during my times of commute. im barely running over 40-50 mph, only on weekends when im just cruising with friends.

even on tanks where Im 100% in the city...just to and from school and around town, I always get 290-310 miles - but there was 1 time that I got around 210, must have been shitty gas or something...it was right when they started using the winter blend, maybe the car freaked out.

I have to drive in heavy traffic to school in the mornings, I don't get above 30 mph in stop and go for about 10 miles. I've never gotten below 350 to a tank except for when my car had a problem.

It could be from winter gas blend, and also try filling your tank up at different gas stations to see if your car likes one type of gasoline more than another. Clean your throttle body, or it could also be an 02 sensor. I think you should keep track of the gas your car uses for about a month or two...gallons of gas you put in your tank, miles on each tank, and how much it costs you each time you fill up. That way you can bring it in to a Acura dealer or mechanic if you keep getting lower than normal gas mileage. They will know the exact mpg you are getting, and they could tell you if it could be a problem or not. You probably shouldn't be getting lower than 18 mpg.

Also you could try some fuel injector/fuel system treatment. It will get bad gas mileage on the tank that you add the treatment to, but after that it should improve.

wow. umm i take care of my car. i do all that, but i usually get close to 300 during the summer. the winter is a huge impact on my car. it drops from 300 to the tank to about 210 during the winter. ITS ANNOYING. i only drove the Z in the winter.. since its pretty new so i dont know how much that gets during the summer. its supposed to be 19city/26hwy

-2002 TL-S w/ 28,000 Miles
-Some uknown gas station (Kwik-Mart a.k.a. Kwiki Market), 89 octane
-10% City/ 90% Highway
- Around 386 miles @ 1 Tank. (Could've been higher)

I thought my gas mileage sucked.. well.. I drove from the Bay Area down to Santa Barbara with a full tank of gas and I had even more gas left when I was actually down there. I filled it up with just a lil amount of gas left in the tank (no light on). So..I'd say..if I kept on going..I could've made it to close to 400 miles MAYBE..

I did not floor the car one bit during the trip with the full tank of gas and I was averaging abaout 75mph on the highway with no SS mode throughout the whole time.

BUT..when I was coming back..I was going at an average of 90 MPH (Hit +100MPH couple of times) and got 21 MPG HAHA...

I use regular unleaded 87 octane. Seems to have very good performance. No ping like my old Maxima SE did when I owned one.

Who's with me on 87 oct ?

3. 10/90 c/h
4. ~350 then usually refill

ive been bouncing back and forth between sunoco 93 and shell 93(vpower). i get 24-27mpg consistantly. i dont think ive ever been below or above. ~25mpg i can live with, more the better of course

It could be your driving too. I know for me, I use to (still do) like to gun the car from street to freeway all the time. Then I would gun it around the freeway because it felt so fun..but then it was a killer on the gas mileage. So when I was on this Santa Barbara trip..and I actually drove like a decent human being, I got such a high mileage that I even shocked myself lol.

all of this depends of your foot motion, even the slightest bit of more pressure on the gas pedal will give you different numbers everytime

it cant be my driving.. its freakin snowing here!! its been snowing for a while now and its impossible to just floor it. i havnt even gone over 40 mph for a while now.. it snowed 4 inches in the last 2 hours and its still building up. i just got back from work and it took me a good 2 and half hours when its only a 10 minutes drive! i dont know.. i barely even tap the accelerater beacuse most of the time we're just cruising on drive to get place to place! haha. but i have to say, THAT TL CAN HANDLE!!!! i love how i can turn without worring about my wheels gliding and skidding! the freakin Z.. OMG i almost freakin died the last time i even tried to pull out of driveway (driveway is on an incline). i cant even touch the Z for a while now
