what were the piston diameters?
The units on the 95 ls- coupe are as close together as I could find. We want that because we run them backwards
Yes it fits several other years and models, and there are varients in the years as to size
Who knows the differance with the nsx? still 2 piston or 4?

here is a pic of mine. I did them last month or so. Used the 95 legend calipers. I powder coated the brackets candy apple red and the caliper satin black, rotors are Racing brake slotted 1 piece finished off with . I just finished doing the rears today and will be posting those soon.

BTW, Not sure that rears are your best bet. I am sure those will not bolt up. NSX has an entirely different setup in the rear. Love to see pics

Right, I am pretty sure that the rears on the nsx are the rotating piston deal. The ebrake works the real caliper. Not sure about the compatibility.

The differance between a parking brake drum inside the rear rotor setup- being changed to a ~pulls the regular pads against the rotor setup~? Is that what this is about??
And that pesky 3 tab on the rear pads would have purpose?
Why do you need more rear brakes on a TL, I mean-- more than good rotors and pads will provide? Too much rear brake makes the car swap ends entering the corner- thats Bad~~
Legend front calipers are working great for me in front on an 01TL.

The NSX rear brake has the same size piston as the TL-S. It should not change brake bias.
I was going to use the stock e-brake set up. There's no way to convert TL e-brake to NSX style. This swap was for looks only. That's why I have not done this already. The NSX caliper says NSX on it.
Sorry about any confusion.

I've got a set of Legend calipers I was intending to install on my '95 Accord wagon before I ended up selling. They've been sitting in the garage since.
My question is this...do I HAVE to swap the rotors to run the legend calipers? And since the pistons are different diameters I heard they need to grab the rotor in a specific rotation...so mounting them "improperly" will end up hurting functionality.
Guys on CB7tuner would mount them correctly (but having the bleeder bolt upside down). To bleed the calipers they would turn them right side up and have a piece of wood between the two pads and bleed away....would this work on our TLs?

the rotors, caliper mounting brackets, caliper spring clips, brake pads, lines, ALL TL`
Only the caliper is from the Legend
Check kragen.com for the accord parts you have, and then check the ~see what other cars this fits- link. I looked but dont know what mdel-trim designators you have- so check it out
If it says 95 Legend LS Coupe, and several others, they will be fine
As long as its dual piston its better than the stock TL parts
I used those because it was closest together in diameters that I easily researched (got list from fsttyms1).
For practical real life use in a TL, dual piston, as long as bolts line up and the overall size is the same- take careful measurements as long as you have them both there- fi its right- prefill the caliper with new brake fluid- itall- complete the other side and bleed the system
We run the opposite side of the strut than original design- thats why we put them left caliper on right side, and right on left.
Do that and the bleeder is on top where it belongs--- all the weight transfer loading dynamics mentality of the 2 diameter issue- is not important on a TL. If you intend to Pro race the thing, get real BBK setup for it.
Its not about the rotation of anything, not a real issue!
simply- the weight moves forward on the car and loads the suspension under braking.
When using street cars to test and justify the great brakes on the race cars acura runs,,, there were several size differance between models and years. In My Opinion- it had way more to do with ~liberal interpretation of the rules~ and innovative engineering of the era.
For our use- they stop the car 30 feet sooner than you expect. You will want quality tires to go with them.
Check a few online parts books and see if the numbers match.
Caution: the LEGEND caliper brackets do NOT fit on the TL- oh they look the same - but they are not. check the accords for same problem
I see Matts here- hey man!!- what do you know about accord parts?

bleeders MUST be on top- thats WHY we swap them side to side!!!
No one in their right mind would take them off and twist the line and burn your hands...
The small differance in piston diameter size is not of real concern on a TL
Rotor rotation is not an issue to the calipers.
If you run side slotted rotors, make sure they are going in the direction stated by the maker.
Prefill the calipers with new fluid, and bench bleed as able before install- it will make it a lot easier for the next stage of full brake bleed.

Anyway, just to reiterate what I tried asking before, can I just slap the calipers on the OE rotors? Also would the 18x8 ET 48 rims clear them? Damn, I just got those wheels! It would be a shame if I'd have to buy another set just to clear the calipers!

The calipers are the exact same external and internal frame dimensions.
All that changes is off to the inner side of the rotor- so stock rotor- or any correct gen aftermarket rotor is fine. Thats what makes this a cool upgrade- everything else stays TL.
Stock rims- different rims, doesnt matter- my 01 came with 205-16 and now sits on 235-18s
They will stop good with stock rotors, they will stop great rotors/pads in alarmingly short distances. Amaze your friends~
Pull a front wheel off and hold the legend caliper up to the stock caliper-
Look earlier in this thread for close up pic of calipers piston area

I uses raybestos pro grade FRC10627 and FRC10628
they come with brackets- you take the small metal spring clips and new bolts off the bracket and transfer them to the TL bracket

The NSX calipers are different looking and say NSX on them. the NSX has smaller piston dia.

I'm a little new with posting, so please tell me if I'm speaking out of turn here.
01tl4tl: Did you have any problems returning the cores (orginal TL calipers)? The only place I found the FRC10627 and FRC10628 it states that I need to return the same product/model. So I'm assuming when they see I put 2002 TL-S calipers back in the box they are gonna not refund the core charge.

i went to kragen locally, and they didnt even look in the box. Dont say anything.
even if they did say anything- the core charge is only 30 bucks- so you paid 100 per caliper total- big deal~,,,,and you keep the TL calipers for a ziner who needs one someday.
You are working on a 95 legend coupe- end of story

I gotcha, my only problem is I couldn't find a local store... I only found rockauto online having them. and I could just picture me sending back the core, and then recieving a letter saying "ive voided some policy" lol.
But I'll check around locally before i go that route.
Thanks for all the info.

there is no checkers/kragen/partsamerica anywhere near you?
AND- the core charge is like a deposit- if you dont bring one back they keep the 30 dollars-
Its not like they charge you 100 for it~
