Leather Seats
Hello!
I remember my car dealer trying to convince me to purchase an additional protection package for the leather seats. It supposedly will protect the leather from spills, fading, and cracking easily. Another package they offered is a clear coating for the paint. If you do not consider the "cost", do any of you think either are worthwhile /necessary? I have a silver 2001 TL with the ebony interior and plan on keeping the vehicle for a long time. Thanx!

DO NOT get any of that dealer crap...its just a sham. the TL body paint is good enough without any of that dealer stuff. think about it, if he is trying to offer you this, then the dealer is implying that the TL paint is not good enough coming out of the factory, yet in acura's brochure for the car, they say the paint process ensures good quality paint on the car. hence, its just another way for the dealer to soak you for more money.
get some aftermarket leather protection and paint stuff and save yourself some cash.

Don't bother with dealer crap! Every new car has clear coat already. They may have been offering you paint protection (wax). It's the biggest scam. Silver or white are the best colors to get for reflrecting UV rays. Just keep you car clean (hand wash) and waxed.
As for the leather...just use Lexol cleaner and Lexol conditioner (you can get it at Pep Boys or any other good auto parts place). Lexol is the best. My brother-in-law worked in the shoe leather and repair industry for 15 years, he swears by Lexol.
