Leak at the transmission seal

I've read similar threads, but had a more specific question for the AZ folks: I'm about to get my timing belt replaced, when this week I notice a leak
It's coming from the drivers side axle at the transmission joint.
Is this a normal wear item? I have had zero noise and the boot is AOK, so I don't want to replace the CV axle if I don't need to.
I already got a quote for the Timing belt from a shop in the PDX metro area (in Vancouver and an AZ reader), should I add the CV seal to the mix?
Thanks so much - I have never been near a dealership since since I joined this forum

is the boot torn or signs of the actual CV grease getting out?
Or is it really ATF? reddish fluid

there is a seal there where the axle goes in
can fail on its own, but have the axle ckd- if its moving around it can wear the seal
cv bearings do wear out

absolutely get any leak fixed!!!

a brand new axle assembly from NAPA is around 100$

Took your advice, as soon as was doable. My TL is now at 360 Imports in Vanc., Wa. A bit of a drive but Evan quoted a good price and discount for AZ members. So what started out as a timing belt replacement (it was due), grew to the repair for the seal leaking (and the boot looked good as far as I could see and no nasty "shot CV" noises), and ended up with asking Evan his feedback on my worn-out brakes. It looks like I'll get those replaced and have my ride back soon.
I'm borrowing a late model Corolla with the .018cc Hamilton-Beach blender motor, so you can guess how much fun that is to drive. It makes a mean margarita, but you have to pretty much floor it, then rock back-and-forth to get it up to highway speeds

what was the seal leak?

a maintained car is a happy car!
think about brake fluid and ps fluid flush next
doing the brakes: may as well do it right and change out all its fluid
