Lastest Service...... a little bad news
Hi all..... my '03 TL-S now has 91k miles on it!! I just had it to Acura today for my 90k mile service. In addition to the service, I had them take care of the Tranny recall and replace my worn Dunlops with Sumitomo HTR's (got them on sale for $71 a piece!) Well, while mounting and balancing my tires, they found that 3 out of my 4 stock rims are bent!!!! They were at least able to balance the wheels, so they can't be bent too bad but with my commute, it is just a matter of time before they start doing damage to my new tires!!

ok, ok!! I didn't realize everyone would react to my mileage! I bought the car in April, 2002, so it isn't that bad!! It is still high mileage, but not like I bought the car in '03! I'm only averaging 37k miles a year...........
I just hope it lasts me at least 250k miles!
Anyway, what do I do about my rims? I just bought new tires at the stock size, so that limits what I can do. Any ideas?

Wow, that is alot of commuting. I do 120 miles a day, but not in my Acura. I got a 92 Honda Accord to deal with that. Congrats though!
Well, I would recommend going here to get OEM wheels
www.aaarims.com or www.capitalwheels.com, may be capitalwheel.com, try both. Or, like they said, EBay or better yet, the for sale forum here on Acura-TL.com

If you're interested I've got a set of the chrome Acura Premium wheels that I can sell to you. They were replaced with my 18"s. They are 16" and very nice

As far as my OEM rims being that soft, it actually does not surprise me with my commute. In my 130 or so miles a day to work and back, only about 30 total miles are on an actual highway. The rest is basically on a 55 mph 2 lane back round. The road is in pretty crappy condition is some areas, crappy enough to "bend" my rims. Unfortunately, there is only 1 other way to work, but that would add another 30-40 miles a day (but would be all highway.)
I was thinking about buying a cheap commuter car but with 91k miles already, I'll just ride it out until she dies.

On another note about our OEM rims being soft..... My wife has a 2002 Infiniti G20 with the Sport package.... 16" rims. She also has bent 3 rims, but to the point that they needed to be replaced!!! It was actually visible looking at the wheels at a stop....and her commute is not nearly as bad as mine. A few pot holes has costed us a lot of cash!

BTW....i was just at a good trusted alignment shop i've been to for 30+ years....the guy told me to make sure my tire pressure was up 35+ psi, or in rims might bend from bumps.....the inner part of the rims that is. higher pressure wont put as much pressure/weight on that part of the rim....just check your tire pressures. -shawn

That is good advice shawn...
I had one of my rims bent too. It was noticeable and it was in the back (inside) of the rim. I couldnt balance those tires worth a squat. It wasnt just a bent lip, I mean the inside half of the rim had a hop in it. It was very noticeable, but it wasnt a huge dent.
I took it to a shop I found here in Pensacola that does nothing but rim repairs and straightened it right out. Balanced it to within 3 grams. It only cost me 100 bucks, including tire mounting and balancing.
Sure as heck beat paying over 200 for a new rim - and that doesnt include the mounting and balancing.
Good luck!
