Last Night This Happened...
I will keep you posted if it is a total loss or if I can get her fixed. Long story short, I-4 traffic rush hour, Tahoe not paying attention, hit and run. I don't have full coverage, so I will try to fix her out of pocket. The damage is only to the rear quarter, taillight and bumper cover (bumper support is crushed a bit, but didn't move). I am getting an estimate today, if too much I may part out. Please don't hit me up until I say so. Thanks...

the rear quarter panel will be pulled and hammered back into place.
find a used bumper and used tail lights to keep cost down.
To me, it doesnt look like a lot of damage.
500-700 to pull the quarter panel.
100-200 for used bumper
60-100 for used tail light.
Here's to hoping there isnt any damage to suspension.

Sorry to hear about the accident. If ya like the car and everything is basically sound, fix it up !!!
It'll only be "totalled" if ya decide ya don't want to spend the money to repair the car on your own tab.
IMO, the car is worth spending $1500 or so to fix. Check around with a couple of different body shops
and source out some used parts as previously mentioned to keep the repair expenses down.

So yes, if you love the car, and you think the integrity has not been compromised by the accident, I say fix it...

She's in the shop getting fixed. First shop wanted $2500, but I found a guy who is doing it for around a grand. He is also going to match the paint from the drivers door, as when I bought her she had a prior repair in the same location and they blended the C pillar and trunk, but not the door. So hopefully it will come out looking better than when it went in.

When you pick the car up, do it in the light. Look at it from different angles, and with and without sunglasses. Its best and easiest to look for paint that doesnt match that way. Also to do it properly, they may need to blend the paint into or beyond the door to match. Especially with WDP

I feel you, man. A drunk hit and run driver is the reason I even own my TL. I didnt have full coverage on my grand prix when it got hit, but it was covered by uninsured motorist part of my liability insurance. Worth looking into.

OK, She's all better now...thanks for all of the well wishes guys...looks better than it did (he blended into the front door from a previous repair (before I bought it) where it was very noticeable...

Glad you got it fixed for a reasonable price.
Was the car not able to be driven after the accident? I've thankfully never been involved in a hit-and-run, but I'm curious what happened? I'd be pretty irate if someone hit me, and then if they tried to leave the area I can only imagine I'd follow them if possible while calling the police.

You ask if the car was drivable... It was, I was in rush hour stop and go traffic on I-4 (if your not familiar with Orlando, it is infamous as a parking lot during rush hour).
I was in a center lane and I am sure at least 30+ people saw it happen. No one would let me get over, I was in the center lane trying to move to the shoulder. No-one stopped and no-one would even move so I could pull over.
When the asshole hit me, he glanced off of my car, barely missing a Range Rover next to me, and stopped on the shoulder. He then punched the accelerator and drove on the shoulder until I couldn't see his SUV anymore. Because there was a Ranger Rover (taller than my line of sight), I was unable to see his plate.

I would just get an aftermarket new bumper cover (mine cost $87) and have a shop spray it ($100-150). Put it on yourself, takes about 20 minutes. Brand new fresh bumper for around $200. If you have a shop try to repair and respray that, it will cost about the same. You may as well have a whole new bumper for the cost...

looks awesome. def the way to go is to find some guy who works on his own to fix you up. i had a shop repair mine thru insurance my first accident and the paint didnt come close to matching and they kept putting bad headlights in my car which leaked and fried my ballast so it was in and out of the shop for a month. then a year later i hit a fence and as i was getting it towed the guy worked at an autobody shop and said its prob totaled. took it to some guy who works out of his house garage and it looks mint now lines are way better and color is on point.
give the the random guy who works out of his own place a shot... you never know you can save thousands and get better work done because that guy doesnt want shit quality attached to his name. big garages dont care.

Had kind of the same experience, when I worked at Taco Bell someone swiped my passenger rear corner and scratched down to the plastic, someone else got the other side not nearly as bad but it's there. Anyway enough about me, glad she's back together, would've hurt my feelings to see a type s head to the scrapper. And for that price they did a HELL of a job congrats man
