Largest exhaust resonator removed
Largest exhaust resonator removed
Okay so after some debate, I had the largest of the two exhaust resonators cut out of my factory system. I've had aftermarket 3.5" tips for a while, and I thought that was too attractive not to have sound.
The result is that there still isn't that much sound - which is good. It growls on start-up, but is barely audible at idle. From 1000-4000rpm it is a low growl. Roll up the windows, run climate control, and listen to the stereo and it's no different than stock - silence.
However, it does make some nice sounds now. Since my mufflers are stock and one resonator is still in place, there is no annoying resonance or droning.
It cost $40 and I don't regret it at all. If you want to add just a tad bit more personality to your TL, but like the stock look and don't want to spend much, this is a good way to do it without looking aftermarket (which I can't stand).

Besides removing the resonator, the exhaust is stock?

Guys I believe 03CoupeV6 is referring to the premuffler. it is a big resonator closer to your mufflers. I was going to do this mod too, but got a great deal on a magnaflow catback so I went that route, love the sound.
I'll work on a soundclip, but it's really nothing major. It just has some sound now as opposed to being silent. It doesn't sound ricer, it just sounds like a V6 with dual exhaust. A toned-down version of a 350Z for example.
