large bang when shifted to reverse
large bang when shifted to reverse
hear a bang shifting to reverse & even louder if parking on a slope. anyone experienced that? is that normal or i should head for a service? urgh! maybe my 3rd tranny is coming soon.
I think its normal noise as long as it not too loud. Mine also makes a small "clicking noise" everytime I switch from Park to Reverse. Its not a loud bang, im sure its just noise made when gearbox gears is changed.
I would suspect the tranny has issues, that is the exact description my dealer put on the work order, "Bangs into gears, replaced transmission"
I noticed the same thing you are describing a few weeks prior to any gear slipping (which was the night before it died).
I hate this tranny

what i've noticed is when im shifting from reverse to drive, especially on a hill, i get this horrible loud clanking sound sometimes, and then it lurches into drive, causing my tires to spin. not exactly the smoothness im used to in this car.
anyone else notice that? thats the only scenario where it happens, no tranny probs otherwise.
btw, 2003 tl-s

Clicking VS Loud Bang are different issue here.
When you shift the gear from P to R, there's normal clicking noise. If you hear loud bang!!!, you might want to take closer attention to it & take it back to the dealer.
