I don't have this combo. But I can tell you that I went from Comptech w stock springs to Comptech with Tokico Illumina and the differerence is huge.

Set them to 1 and you have a ride that is like stock (springs AND shocks). Set it to 3 and you are like a BMW or Audi sport package ride, set it to 5 and you can read brail off of the road.

The key word is proper damping. Because koni and h&r are different companies you will need the adjustability to fine tune your ride to dampen properly.

P.S. If the shocks are new, they will feel different when first installed as compared to a few days later.

If you can, get your installer to put them in and then agree to keep the back seat off for a day or two and then re-adjust if necessary. That way you'll be guaranteed to be happy.

i got a question.
i got stock shocks and comptech springs.
the front shocks have 72k on them.
i replaced the rear w/KYB shocks, which i am happy with, when i didi the comptech springs.

but the front...the front are original stock.
they are shot!.

i want to get new shocks, but nothing adjustable.
can you make a suggestion?.

well I guess you have four choices

1. kyb
2. tokico blue
3. tokico illumina
4. koni yellow

if you were happy with stock shocks then maybe you can pick up stock fronts for next to nothing?

if not i'd say kyb or tokico blue whould both work okay

relevant ?

I have a relevant ?

I also have a '99 with 72k and I am wanting Comptech or HR sport springs...Im leaning toward the Comptech cause I have a system in the back and I would think it would look more even with the Comptechs...anyway, I assume I might as well replace the shocks also, what is the difference between the Koni's, and the tokico? Also, if I could find stocks for real cheep, could I just use those again - granted I would probably only get half life out of them?? thanks all

i would get either Comptech or H&R 50103 (designed for the TL) not the Accord H&R.

I don't know the difference between Koni and Tokico but an unreliable source said that Tokico are more street friendly whereas Koni are more track friendly. (read it on an integra site). I guess that would mean that the softest Tokico setting is softer than the softest Koni and vice versa wrt hardest settings.

In the end, if you're on a budget, I'm sure Illumina's will be fine. The added bonus is that you can drill a small hole in your back dash and use a screwdriver to adjust the rears (as opposed to taking out the back seat). I'm gonna do this once I find something suitable to plug the hole with .

Tatewaki has the H&R sport and no camber kit and he says it is great. He even leaves them on during the winter. I am getting the H&R Sport springs installed this friday, can't wait!!!

I was wondering what was the cost of the adjustable shocks or camber kit (I'm not too sure what the technical term is). I am planning on adding them to the H&R sport spring I am gettting this friday. I like the ability to adjust the height in the winter, but it isn't in the budjet this month (OEM body kit and springs). I was thinking of getting them this summer, a few questions.....
How much effort is it to adjust the height? tires completly off? or just jack the car up to take te weight off?

How much is the camber kit/adjustable shocks?

Can they be added to an H&R Sport application after months of use??

Doubtful with the ones I mentioned. With the H&R sports for the accord and a system you may be out of camber in the rear.

Residual freedom you can't adjust height with adjustable shocks, only the dampening (ie. harshness). I know the Koni's have adjustable perches but you have to reinstall everytime you want to adjust height and you are NOT supposed to use the lower perch with lowering springs.

camber kit is pretty cheap on ebay. obx brand for less than a hundred. don't know about the quality tho.

also, how long should my stock shocks last if i installed H&R OE sport springs around 30,000 miles. i now have 42,000 miles on my baby.

thanks,
peter.

also, if you are going with lowering springs, get coil over sleeves... it's the best way to keep your car leveled... in case the H&R doesn't settle evenly.

I would reccomend going with H&R SPORT not the H&R OE Sport. there is a difference of an inch total from 1.75 allround to .75 allround. The OE Sport springs look like it is a stock ride with a couple of heavy people in the car, doesn't look lowered at all. Tatewaki uses the H&R Sport in the winter with stock tires with no problems, just have to clear out the snow that builds up in them before you drive, that's how I was driving last winter so I don't see a problem with snow building up in the wheel wells. I'm sure we can find pics of different rides with different spring combos and compare them side by side. I'll start a new thread in the 2nd GEN forum
