Hi,

Our 03 TL on occasion will have a clunk sound that seems to be comming from the floorboard area upon starting and when turning off. It is inconsistant as to when it does it. Anyone else experience this?

I have 12 000 km on mine and have never experienced the sound that you described...maybe take it to the dealer and hope you can reinact this noise...

i think i have this prob too, when i start my car and pull out it's a brief clunk/tap type noise, i got no clue what this is

If you do a search there should be a post about it ... I've found it only happens to me in cold weather and after the car has been off for quite a few hours. I only get it at startup. The explanation IIRC was that the motor mounts are vacuum sealed and when you start the car they're being pushed open. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong because I'm doing it off the top of my head ...

In any case, I wouldn't worry about it, nothing abnormal at all about it.

I wouldn't worry about it ... I'm almost positive you're describing the same noise that I have which is the motor mounts ... its a "clunking" type of noise right after you start the car, right? ... Following almost immediately after the car turns over..

If thats the same kindof thing, its normal and you shouldn't need to take it in.

Thank you! I am only 2 1/2 hours from any dealer.
That is exactly the sound. Doesn't always do it and kinda sounded like the exhaust pipe hitting something.

I have a 2000 TL and get the same clunk sometimes...dont know if thats normal but I am just confirming the problem is not just your car..

my problem is, i start the car(all fine) i pull out(turn the wheel) and that is when i hear my clunk/thump type noise
