We were both on Blackbob at 119th street. He's a kid borrowing his dad's car, I think. Badge says 540i, the tires looked too skinny to be a 540i, so I think it's a 528i rebadge :o
We both gassed it on 119th East bound, I'm on the left lane, I'm on D3, TCS off, going uphill incline of 25%. At 5,000 rpm my VTEC starts screaming and I just blew past him going 80 in a 45!!
We stopped at Pflumm (1 mile down the road) I looked at him to see if he wants to go again, He turned right meekly and headed dowm Pflumm.

Although the badge still says 540i, I noticed there is just 1 muffler, but 2 exhaust tips. Does the 540i have 2 mufflers or just 1, I think it's a 99 model...

Yeehaa! It's great to hear a KC kill story. I'm still surprised that you can actually get to 80 mph at 119th and Blackbob. It's usually a parking lot out there! Were you out at 2 am that time?

i don't know about the muffler tips on the 540 vs 528...

all i know is that a real 540 smoked my arse on the freeway...not even close. we came from the same on ramp and i usually floor it anyways during the transition...he thought for awhile about flooring it too...by the time he did he was a good 1/8 mile behind me and thats when he had enough of me...i saw him coming up fast so i floored it again...he didn't just pass by me...he flew by me. i felt most ashamed for even wasting his time and gas.

damn i need to get an M5 or an M-B E55...

I think the 540 has 2, just like us...but they are hidden..you need to bend down under the car to see them, all you might see would be the black tips of the exhaust..

Not to bust your bubble but a 540 can rip us a new a$$hole. Like you said, maybe it was a rebadged 528. But if it was really a 540 then the stupid kid really didn't know how to drive it.

No way TL will take a good 4-banger and 540 6 speed Uhhh... My DSM can't get it, and TL never will.

How's the rim look like , if it's 10++ star spokes rim with a beemr logo then it's a 540 , a sport package 540 will have 5 star spokes rim , with the beemer logo in the cap. If it's a netty rim like those of the 740s , then most likely it's a 528.

Actually, my 540i has two mufflers. The tips do not extend out the back of the car, they are pointing downward and are not visible unless you get down and look below the car.

Just for the record, my 540 feels waaay faster than my TL-S, to me anyway. The 540 just has gobs of torque...

I will try to get some pictures of the mufflers, and of the new BMW rims I got when the rivets on my stock 17"s started rusting. BMW "exchanged" my old ones for new split 5 spoke two peice wheels...

I honestly think I killed a 528i, not a genuine 540i. The car was somewhat moving so I could not see the number of spokes on the wheels. When the adrenaline goes, 80 on a 45 seemed like 25 on a 45..

Plz don't even bring DSM in here dude. I had a friend with a GST and that piece of shiet went thru 11 turbos.....

and a good 4 banger CAN beat DSM, i did in my prelude when it was stock, my 96 prelude Si i took (barely) a GST. It was close (about 10 feet) but a win's a win.
