Key FOB would not lock car
Yesterday, I got to work and when I went to lock the car, the key fob would not lock the car. I used the key to lock the car, but I was not happy the fob stopped working.
The little red light still came on when the button was pushed, so I thought the battery was okay. I searched around our board and the conclusion I came to based on replies was to find a replacement fob on eBay. SO looked on eBay and the prices were cheaper than the dealer, but most were, "used, in good condition".
I looked at the fob and saw a little indented tab on one end. Since it didn't work anyway, I decided to look inside. I gently pried it open with a small flathead screwdriver. There is one circuit board (sorry no pics). I took it out and flipped it over and there was a battery. I thought, what the heck, maybe I'll replace the battery and see if it works. Why? I have no idea.
I bought a battery 2 pack at Lowe's for under $5. The two pack was the only ones they carried. The battery is CR2025. I quickly replaced the battery, put eveything back together. Tried the fob out and everything worked!
Replaced the battery in the spare fob, tested it out and everything worked for that one too.
So for under $5, got my fob working and thought I should share with my fellow TL drivers. Hope I can save someone some money!
