Keeping or Selling
I thought this was an interesting thread I saw on the 2nd Gen CL forum, so I bring the same question to you guys. Will you sell or keep your beloved TL before the 100K mark?

ill put it this way, ill see how i feel when i get there. if i still have the orig tranny then probably sell, or if the car ages worse then i had hoped. if it holds up great after my extended warranty, then might as well hang on to it, it will be paid off by then anyways. im only at 41k so i want feel it out. im sure there are a few people who are in the same senario.

I really would love to keep my 02 tl-s. Such an awesome car and have had no real problems besides tranny that was just replaced ay 75k. I was thinking of trying to purchase an outside extended warranty for a while and I figure if they pay for at least one tranny then it will definately be worth it. Anyone ever dealt with warranty direct?

Keeping mine for now, unless problems occur. I tend to keep cars for a long time, providing they're trouble-free, and I've been pretty lucky:
'79 Toyota Corolla - 212k. still running good when sold
'89 Acura Integra - 168k, running great when sold
'96 Lexus LX450 - 158k, running great when sold

Bought mine with over 100k before i knew of any tranny issues ![Sad](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/sad.gif)
its got 134k on it now, tranny 1 died at 126k. I bought this car in hopes that i could keep it for a long time to be able to do stuff to it, but now I'm questioning how long the second tranny will last. I'll probly keep it for another 10k or so.

Now a 2005 Chrysler 300C has caught my eye at a good price. We'll see what happens. I would have no hesitation recommending someone buy my car at 132,000 miles. It's in awesome shape. Cars are built differently than in the 60s when 100K was a huge amount of miles.

Not gonna hit 100k for a while (only 45 right now) so will either sell it by then (would probably be 5-7 years from now) or eventually do the 6-speed swap.

I figured more would sell it or attempt the swap. I'm happy a majority will stick it out even with the tranny issues. with my commute I should 100K by early next year and I'm currently at 58K

my current plan is to sell in January and hopefully be modding a new 07tl-s.......and I have 20,538 k miles..I definitely plan to drive the new car more though.
BTW still on original tranny, but getting a car without the worry of a tranny failure will be a relief for me.

1. i put it into reverse and it went into gear hard
2. it slipped when i floored it after coming out of first, reving it to redline
3. my vsa light stayed on for a day
4. started shifting at lower rpms when i floored it
all instances of my tranny going down for what i've read all happening within a week. maybe you guys can clue me in on how much longer i've got!
anyways, if the tranny redesign has fixed the transmission issues with the TLS, then i'll keep mine till the thing dies cause i love it. but if this is a persistant problem and i'm lingering around the 95k mark, i'd be a fool to keep it.

im at 42k on my 99, i love the thing to death, im still in school, and i dont drive my TL that much, so when im done with school, and settle into a job, well see where that takes me, ill probably keep the TL til its in the ground, the first time i laid my eyes on the TL when i was 14, i wanted one, so ill prolly keep her for good, next car when im done with school and everthing will def be a new TL or an M35 sport

I have 114,000km / 71k miles (oil gonna be changed from OEM dino oil to Mobil 1 this w/e). I plan on passing this car down to the GF next year when she needs a car for work. I'll be eyeing on the cars at the Detroit Autoshow and hopefully there will be some impressive releases in the spring / summer 2k7 for me. ![Nod](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/nod.gif)
Bottomline: keeping TL-S until a catastrophic failure. :knockonwood:

Good question and yes i asked myself that question when was about to hit 100K, i test drove the new TL and didnt like it for the fact that it was too cramped up for me. So after a year and 30K more miles, i am at 130K and i am planning on running it down to the ground.
