Question K&N Replacement Air Filter vs. Stock Filter

Is it worth replacing the Stock air filter with the K&N replacement filter (#33-2133)??
Will I really gain anything, or is it a waste of $40 and should I just stick to the cheaper paper filters that are sold at the local auto parts store??

Cool

let me just start by saying you paid how much for your TL and are going to put a cheap-o air filter in it...what's $40 anyway of $55 (i think) for the comptech version...and it is worth it...a little more power, and a little better air flow...

it's hardly noticable. if you're going for better flow and a little more power, then get a intake. it's more noticable than a filter.

I just read an article in Import Tuner and it dyno tested a V6 2k Maxima with drop in K&N filter.

A 4HP peak gain and gains through out the powerband were shown.

I dont think its too bad for a $40 and quiet perfomance upgrade.

what you can do if you are short on cash but want some more power, you can buy the drop in filter and remove the resonator from your car. This gives more flow, decent sound, and saves you some money. Just another option.
