I got the K&N drop-in filter and just removed the bottom resonator. This way, it looks much cleaner and it sucks cool air behind the bumper. I don't recall the part #, but I used the application for the 98+ V6 Accords.

so is it ok if i just get a filter for a 98 v6 accord?........anyone know if its ok to get just a universal cone filter and just clamp it in where the filter box use to be?

I had a K&N filter on a previous car and i loved it. It was the drop in kind. I bought the Comptech drop-in from Tim for the TL. Im not sure about what you want to do with the cone filter.

i got the K&N for $45. its the drop-in kind. i'm not sure what the part # is. check out their website, it should have it there. http://www.knfilters.com/

i felt better throttle response and it lasts forever.

u guys with the drop in k&n, is it louder at all? kinda like an intake?......im wonder what my TL would sound like, i have the resonator out and just ordered my k&n. thanks

It's not loud at all as opposed to cone filters. and yes you can put a cone filter inplace of the box it will be louder. The box serves to keep the noise level down. And as for the resonator, are you refering to the air circulation box below it, I think it just serves to suck in air from underneath the hood and trap some dirt. here's a pic of what I did. it also has a K N air filter in it.
