I got a call from my mom the other day caying her transmission on her car dropped...she drives a 2002 Accord SE with only 30K miles. When she brought it in to the Honda dealership and told them all of my TL's tranny troubles, the mechanic told her, "Honda and Acura are great cars but are not known for their transmissions." I know I'm not the only one who finds this statement a little ironic, considering I had no idea about the transmission issue until after my TL dropped the first time. Consumer Reports still lists the TL as a "best bet" and the transmission is rated above average sorry guys I just find it a little funny. At least the mechanic was honest and replaced the transmission for her.

 

yeah, they also have the same recall as we do on the trannies to get the oil jet kit. my mom has the 03 accord V6 and they sent the letter home stating that we need to get the kit installed and/or replace the tranny if it is bad.

 

Yeah, this really sucks.......i can't believe freakin acuras have tranny problems....my tranny is so rough sometimes, i just want to drive it off cliff.....it should be smooth as butta like when mine was brand new. i'll have a better idea 11/8 when i go in for tranny replacement.


i used to have an 01 ACCORD EX-V6, and never had tranny problems, but OH was that motha rough......not sure if the 01s had any KNOWN tranny problems though. -shawn

 

Those engineers that work for Acura are just frankly incompetent at what they do. The German car makers have had 5 spd trannies in their cars for years, is it that difficult for those dumb bastards from Acura to just copy what's out there. As if this is a world first effort at designing a 5 spd auto tranny. That's just SAD. I've been a loyal Acura customer for years, fitting the mold perfectly. My first car in highschool was an Integra, then CL and now TL, they definitely screwed me upside down and inside out on this deal. LET'S BOYCOTT them.

 

her car isn't an Accord V6 though...its only a 4 cylinder I knew I should have bought a damn Mercedes or Lexus... I don't know what honda/acura's problem is, they used to make such good cars...My TL has already gone through 2 trannies under warranty...and its seems like its about to go again. And it really sucks b/c i just started trusting the car again and then its starts acting up in traffic. Is it just me or is there ALWAYS something wrong with my car? I figured I'll keep it around until I buy another house with a garage in it...and then I'll get the red Benz CLK320 that I've been wanting for forever.
