Just saw TL-S at Philly
I would post pics but it would only be more of the same. They had the silver one complete with bowling ball trim. Let me tell you that trim looks much better in person than it does on the pic.
Anyway I asked about when this car would be available and I got two different stories! Acura reps who I believe were traveling with the show said March/April. Meanwhile, a rep. from Classic Acura in Turnersville, NJ was there. He told me June/July. He must have a lot of 01s on his lot. He kept trying to pitch me an '01 saying he could give me a great deal on one

I also saw the TL-S at the Philly Auto Show yesterday. The new grill and head lights are very disappointing. I was told that Acura's intent is to make the car look more aggressive. Unfortunately, the new front end is too exaggerated for the character and refinement of the rest of the car. Acura's designers must learn how to update a model while maintaining the design heritage.

Of course, I'm biased, I like the changes.

The real TL-S was on display. Sport seats, 260 HP engine, silver gray gauges and all.
Regarding the front end styling, just look at the BMW 3 and 5 series cars. Even though the body series has been updated over the years, there is still a continuity in design and a blending of design elements. The nose of the 2002 TL does not fit the character or design history of the model.

They had an 02 Type S and an 01 decaffeinated there.
One interesting thing I noticed is that the specs they had next to the car were wrong. they were specs for the non S. (said 225HP). But it was truely the Type S.
I was surprised it was just out there on the floor and not up on a pedestal like the MDX.

How do you figure it doesn't fit the car? Have you looked at the front end of the MDX, CL or RL? They all have pretty much the same grill style. Acura wants you to look in the mirror and know you have an Acura behind you (where as the older models could be mistaken for an Accord), just like you know when a BMW is behind you. It may take some getting used to, but it truly does give the car a lot more of an aggressive look.....

I agree that the new treatment for the 2002 year are a positive step in moving the TL away from being an Accord. Waaaay too many times have I mistaken one for another during the day. This is quite unfortunate, and the new front treatments are a welcome addition.
However, they could have taken a bit more liberty with the rear, which I still think is ugly.
My one thought about the front, however, is that I'm surprised they didn't mesh the grill and the light array together. The grill sticks up further than the lights, giving it a discontinuous look. Not bad, but I wonder if it would've looked even sharper if they were aligned?

I'm with ya now. You mean the "trademarks" of the line, like camaro headlights...
I don't know what you guys are talking about, I have never mistaken a TL for an accord. Accords are much smaller, and the TL has a bigger back end and much bigger tail lights.
I believe the TL has that look of luxury. Compare the two side by side and it's painfully obvious.

You are correct about the differences between the Accord and TL, but I was referring to seeing the car from the front (like in your mirror, etc.). If the headlights aren't on, it's pretty damn close. Same thing with my generation CL....
