Just parted ways with the TL

Well I had to move on from the TL today. It was a great car and I loved it but I just couldn't justify putting any more money in to it. Traded it with 251,795 miles so it did it's job. After 200k it's not worth it. Between 210k and 250k I had to replace sll if the following:Water pump
Cooling fan motor
Starter (twice)
Power steering pump
Transmission
Alternator stay bracket (twice)
You get the idea...

The final straw was this...my gearbox started leaking badly, then my power steering hose cracked. I looked at fixing those and then my tensioner pulley broke!

Great car. I loved it and took care if it but don't think it's worth it after 200k miles.

Thanks for all if the help you guys gave me. I appreciate it very much!

With 250,000 miles don`t mourn its loss but the use you got out of it. That`s pretty good for any car but especially nice for a well maintained TL.

Yeah, sometimes things will eventually wear out and need replaced. The single biggest hurdle is the tranny and then redoing the 105 service. But, once ya get the big stuff taken care of.....these cars are worth investing a few bucks into, IMO. If ya are good at DIY maintenance, ya can save a lot of money......plus save a new car payment to boot. But, it can be a roll of the dice at times !!!

So, besides giving the TL away......what did ya end up buying ???

I really like these cars as well, but I would probably have a "last straw" moment if parts were failing back-to-back. Although I wouldn't be as bothered if the years and miles were high because then it wouldn't be all that surprising. At that point I would move on too.

I am considering getting a replacement for mine which has 202k. Let us know what your replacement will be.
