Just ordered Comptech's Quiet Tip Exhaust Inserts

Hoping that it cuts down on the resonance sound at low RPMs. Review to follow once I get them, hopefully by the weekend.

Cost me $40 + shipping. Not a bad deal.

Nope not loud, just trying to drown out the droning sound at low rpms.

Is this something Tim will get? I'd rather wait and get them from him.

Are these something that can be removed when you WANT to sound "good", and re-apply when you want to be stealth?

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the exhausts? I thought it was for sound and power (not much). Is it really that loud at low rpm's? Because I thought comptech wasn't that loud at all. I need to know because I might be getting them later.

I think this has been discussed numerous times but it all depends on personal preference. *I* personally think comptechs are not loud enough whether at low / high rpm.

see with the HKS, there really isnt any droning...sure when you lightly step on the gas, its audible but its by far bearable...but its not annoying for sure, its a great exhaust and when i stomp the gas it sounds like a damn ferrari from outside the car...if anything, i want more sound...Shyne

I might get them just in case if I have a long drive or maybe my grandparents decide to sit in my car.

Wow, you actually think the Comptech mufflers are loud?! I used to have a crappy Focuz catback exhaust for my AV6, and that thing was LOUD with huge droning problem on the highway. The Comptech mufflers are super quiet compare to that. They are one of the best mufflers made out there in my opinion with no droning problem at cruising speed.

There is a slight in car resonance at 2,000 rpms under light acceleration or load.

Once the torque converter locks up, it goes away though.

My favorite is the throaty growl you hear from the rear b/w 3,000 and 4,000 rpms.

NSXNEXT....Please keep us informed of your testing...this might just be the thing to get my wife off my butt about that "droning" at low RPMs on trips.

1999TL,

According to Comptech, one loses 1hp with the quiet tip inserts, but one had already gained 2 with the exhaust. So for me it is not a big deal, specially when I am planning to buy the headers.

I have the inserts and they substantially reduce the resonance at low rpms. I find the exhaust sound more pleasant now.

I will post some pictures soon.
