Unhappy Just Crashed my TL-S A-Spec

DAMAGES:

-2 badly curbed A-Spec rims
-scraped the front skirt, side skirt, and rear skirt
-front bumper is scraped as well
-the rear right suspension area is badly damaged with MAJOR POSIVTE CAMBER
-steering and alignment is way off as well.

I might have to pay for all these damages myself to avoid raising insurance rates.

I feel like crap right now because I really like this car.
All I can say is don't drive fast in the rain on a turn with crappy stock tires.
I got owned by UNDERSTEER and OVERSTEER
luckily those were all the damages i got... i could've hit something else and would've got body damages.
I just had to VENT cuz I feel so depressed at the moment. I may not be fixing my car for a month or so and therefore will not be driving it.

Good to hear you're ok.. even though that's not the main issue now it might of been under different circumstances..

I've got a really good price on a OEM front lip (it's all I need to change my OEM99 kit to a OEM02 stlye kit) 280 painted and shipped withing the US borders. I'm going to order it tobe delivered to Rob's house (PureAdrenalin) in Michigan and I'm driving down to pick it up/install it and avoid border fees. If you want I can hook you up with the dealer and you can get a quote.... With regards to the OEM kit, you could drive down to the Us somewhere and pick it up, while either leaving your current kitt in the garbage down there or strip off your broken kit before you go down and drive back with the new one installed.

The real kicker will be the A-Spec rims.. sorry to say but those babies are rare... and expensive. I hope you can find a del somewhere...
and any pics to show?

Thanks for trying to help...

My kit is not badly damaged..but they are just scraped...just needs to be painted
the Rims will probably be replace with some used aftermarkets...
A-Spec rims will cost too much unless i can find some used ones.

Thank you again for trying to help me out....
I really appreciate it when someone will try to help a person in toruble.

Wow Chewi, sorry to hear about your misfortune. Look at the bright side, YOU'RE OK! It's unfortunate that things like that happen. I remember the first time I got in an accident, I felt horrible. It'll be ok bro. Post some pics of your car when it's all back to normal since we don't run across too many Canadian TL-S Aspecs around here. Best of luck with the repairs.

It amazes me when people say they would rather pay out of pocket than risk an increased insurance premium.

This is what insurance is for... especially since it sounds like you have major suspension and possible frame damage. Repairs like those will cost in the thousands.

You ponder on whether to go through insurance or not for little things like a busted mirror. For big stuff like this, definitely go through insurance.

Sorry to hear about this Chewi. I guess you must be driving too fast for the VSA to save you. After your car is fixed, buy some good sticky tires before spending your money (red packet money ?) on anything else.

I considered tires to be the most important part of the car. No matter how good or how stiff the suspension is, a car is touching the roads only through the tires' four contact patches. The tires are your life line, especially if you likes to drive fast.

That's why I use the sticky Pilot Sports for the summer, and even winter tires that I'm driving on now are wider than stock at 225/50/17 to compensate for the loss in performance.

Im with him. With rims, body work, and suspenion damage this bill is gonna be a high one, and is exactly what insurance is for.
A scraped bumper, ding, or curbed rim, pay out of your own pocket, but when damage is gonna be more than 1k which this will probably easily exceed, call your insurance company. Your rate hike if any will be less than what you'll spend on repairs.

Thats just a major cause of depression in itself. In life we go through ups and downs and this is one of them for you. You'll be ok, think positive and get yourself on the right track to fixing everything. Hope everything works out. ttyl.

Sorry for being away for a while... its been veryt depressing lately cuz its gonna take a while for me to get enough funds to fix the car.
i have a 35 % discount on insurance right now... and if i claim it....its gonna be double the cost for my insurance next yr.
I'm gonna try to find an estimate for damages first...

Thank You Everyone for your opinions and help.

I'll definitely let you know what happens soon.

I'll post pics as well..

use ur insurance even if u are at fault. i think u will go to the 10% level since u are at 35 right now. (5 levels drop)
below is icbc link for insurance rate scale:
http://www.icbc.com/insurance/pdf/APG26web.pdf

here is a basic calculation for u:
assume ur insurance consist of: 2mil third party, 300 for both comprehensive and collsion. i think with ur 35%, u only pay around 2600 a year (assume 4000 without discount).

next year: $3600 (10%)
year after: $3400 (15%)
year after: $3200 (20%)
year after: $3000 (25%)
year after: $2800 (30%)
year after: $2600 (35%)

total 6 years of insurance after u claim insurance is: $18600
total 6 years of incurance without claim insurance at 2600/year is: $15600

i am pretty sure that the damage cost to ur description is higher than $3000. important thing for u to do now is to find a good body shop since acura doesn't do body work

get an estimate and do some math...it might be cheaper to just pay insurance deposit and take the higher rates..or it could be cheaper to just replace the rims and fix the suspension

Do u know any good body shops in vancouver?
I'm getting a mechanic to estimate my damages this week, but i'd like to know which shop is reliable and will do the best job possible.

thanks

did u go thru icbc with this collision? if so, icbc will give u an estimate on ur car (final repair cost will sure more than the estimate price). u don't really need to get a mechanic to do an estimate. once u get the estimate sheet with approx price, then decide to go thru insurance or not. if u go thru insurance, then use that estimate repair sheet. if u don't want to use insurance, then don't use the repair sheet.

i read ur previous posts. seems like u have been to service in northshore acura. if u bring ur car to northshore acura, then northshore acura will sub the body work to richmond auto body (about 2 blocks from northshore acura). acura will do all the mechanicall repair and richmond auto body will do the body work.

my car just came out of northshore acura 2 weeks ago due to my accident last christmas. main reason y i got them to do the job is that i trust acura mechanics in mechanical work.

i read ur previous posts. seems like u have been to service in northshore acura. if u bring ur car to northshore acura, then northshore acura will sub the body work to richmond auto body (about 2 blocks from northshore acura). acura will do all the mechanicall repair and richmond auto body will do the body work.

my car just came out of northshore acura 2 weeks ago due to my accident last christmas. main reason y i got them to do the job is that i trust acura mechanics in mechanical work.
Thanks so much for your info and past experience.
I would absolutely let northshore deal with my problems if i decide to claim thru icbc.
They are by far the best dealer out here in BC with awesome service and reliable work.
and i really do trust them.

BTW.
Can you pm me your phone number?
.... I'm really frustrated with the situation, but after you told me what my optons were, I was very relieved.
Thanks so much again
