you need to have the tire shop measure the rim width- I know it will take a 205-215 but there are limits above that as to what fits right without issues

As a new owner of the exclusive 99 TL, I recommend the 99 only chrome shift gate mod found in the diy, as well as procurement of some 02-03 tallights, intake resonator removal, and the mid muffler delete... you thought you enjoyed your 99 UA5 3.2 TL before, those mods and several others found in the diy make her more fun to play with! LOVE MY 99!!!

Cool Newly purchased '99 TL @ 141k........things to check

After browsing the forum here, I am thinking I should do a transmission fluid drain and fill. I must warn you that when it comes to cars, I am pretty clueless. I am going to take it to IPS Service, which supposedly specializes in higher end cars including Acuras.

I know you have handle these transmissions differently than other cars, so I'm a bit nervous taking it anywhere but the dealership. I've read it can be dangerous changing the ATF in a higher mileage TL, especially since I don't know the service history. Should I be worried about this, or go ahead with the fluid change?

So, how did things end up after having the car checked over ???

The place I live at doesn't allow "shade tree mechanic-ing", so I can't do my fluid changes at home. But... my oil change place did a oil change and a 1x3 swap for 25 bucks, and then the next 2 times I drove in (using my own purchased fluid), they did the 1x3 for no charge. In and out in 10 minutes.

So an oil change and a 3x3 spread out over 3 weeks for 25 bucks. (their oil, my tranny fluid), hard to beat.

So ask them next time you get anything done...

No matter what happens, just enjoy the car, I have an '01 TL and I bought it mid last year with 75k, and it's at 112k now, and I love it. No significant problems.

you did use Honda DW-1 atf right?

the atf will give up between 3 and 3.4 qts on draining

ck it per your owner book method- some say cold and others a certain way of getting it warm, (heat changes indicated level)
and its important the level is BETWEEN the 2 dots- not at either one, that's the limits
you want this fluid in the middle
Odd but true

Our XLR8 mounts will cause a little more vibration and initially it will be more noticeable, however they do "break in" and become less stiff over some time.
