just bought a TL!

I just bought a '99 Acura TL with 50k miles on it!! I really like the car considering I was about to buy a accord coupe and the salesperson told me they can make me a deal on the fully loaded TL and i jumped all over it.

I just had a couple of questions:

1. whats up with the tranny? i heard they have a tendency to blow. my tl has 50k on it so i assume it wouldve blown by now? am i covered by acura if it does happen for some reason?

2. what should be the first mod i do on the car?

Your '99 should have HID's, if not then someone has screwed around with your car. As well as for your tranny, you should get an extended warranty if you don't have one...worth the money :p

P.S. Welcome to the club.

umm i dont think so, HID must be standard. I just bought a TL today too! Mine has 7k more than yours but made cheap private deal.

By the way anyone know if 99s can change their headlights to 03's ? 03's look so much better.

IMO, the 99 TL's headlight looks 100x better than the 02+.

BTW, all 99+ TL have HIDs as standard.

The body style is the same for 99-03 except for the redesign headlights and red/clear tails for 02+.

Oh and every 99+ TL is covered under the extended warranty which is 7 years/100K miles!

WOW! thanks for the information. Is that warranty a powertrain warranty and how can I make sure that this particular car has the warranty.

Thanks again!

It is a transmission warranty.

I believe all 99+ TLs are covered. But to be on the safe side, check out this link:

www.acura.com

Set up your own account and it will automatically tell you if there is a recall or any other useful information regarding your car.

I have a 2000 and I like the old headlights far better than the new ones. To upgrade I believe you need to change the hood and bumper and it ain't worth it.

I did however buy the new rims - I hated the old ones, and the car looks great. I also put wood trim on the center console cup doors and trim.

Your lights are HID. The only difference between the 99 and 2000 are side airbags and a five speed transmission.
