Whats up everybody?

I just bought a satin silver 2001 tl with navi, , I love the car, looks and nice power. I have a few questions though. Are these transmissions as bad as everyone says they are? My car has 66k on it and the tranny seems to be alright.

Where do you guys think i should start off with mods, im kinda stuck, power or looks? i was thinking about doin a nice drop on skunk2 coilovers, with a wings west lip kit and 20" wheels (alloy) would that work out? and as for power some headers cold air intake and Apex'i world sport exhaust, would that be too loud? So where do you guys think i should start power or looks?

I got a nice kill story too. I used to be into little civics with jap spec motors, and one of my friends with a 94 civic coupe dx with a jdm sohc motor was pretty upset that i got this big four door automatic, well i showed him a thing or too, and left him in my dust. Finally shut him up, lol.

welcome to the board! and yes, unfortunately the trannies are as bad as everyone says. we have people here on their 2nd and 3rd trannies with less than 100k on the car.

i myself just had to order a tranny this morning. but all in all, i would do it again i decided. now if i go through a second tranny after this recall deal then i'll prob trade it up for a bmw xi or *maybe* a 2005 rl if there are no problems to speak of with it.

as far as mods. i would say go for power. you want to make up the gap you have between the tlp and type-s

go for a cold air intake and some headers with an exhaust. they produce some really decent gains. enjoy and good luck!

With intake headers and exhuast about how much will that add to the crank hp, and how cloase will it be to a tl type-s

 

hmm, i'm not sure of the exact numbers, i know some people have posted them though. with those mods though you should be able to hang with a stock type-s quite easily. im sure if you do a search the numbers should pop up somewhere.

Phone up your closest dealer and ask them if you can get an appointment to do your transmission recall
