All the 99's have extended warranties on the transmission, but we seem to have a lower rate of failure anyway.

Hey, welcome!
You got a great car. Mine is a 99 TL also, I'm the orig. owner, it is still on its orig. trans, I owned this car for 5+yrs /61k miles and still counting. not a single problem. I hope you have the same luck as me.

Oh actually, I did have one problem with my car, the HeadUnit wouldn't read CDRs, but I had that fixed underwarranty.

It's called clear corners - the headlight assembly is taken out and stuck into an oven to loosen the glue. Then you pry it open and take out the amber reflector. Reverse step would be to use silicon (?) glue to put it all back together again, and reinstall the headlight assembly. Simple concept, semi-difficult process to do correctly (I've seen lots of botched jobs).

What pat said, most people have problem with the headlights fogging up after they clear it. So far so good for me, it's my 3rd try.

Congrats!!

You got a GREAT deal on your ride. I dont even want to tell you what I spent on mine 2 yrs. ago with 31k on the clock. I'm sure you already feel good enough about what you spent.

HZM82--is it just a coincidence, or were our cars seperated at birth? (Minus the rims and drop)

lol Love my 99..........I believe all 99 TLs were seperated at birth.

PS. You can't hotlink a pic that is on your harddrive. It needs to be on the web.

I just went to the dealer and complained. Within a week they had a brand new replacement HU and replaced everything under warranty. There are plenty of threads on this topic. Just do a search. From the results I seen 4/5 people who had their HU replaced had a better working HU that read CDRs.

Yes because they use a different trasmission. The 99 TL uses a 4spd transmission.

The 00 and up have water/coolant cooled transmissions(water runs in passages inside the transmission), while ours (99) the actual transmission fluid runs through the bottom of the radiator(seperate section) to cool the fluid.
