Hmmm... I am very tempted to raise the B.S. flag on that "8 car lengths" statement. A Jetta GTI, or a Jetta VR6 .. hmm, what year would you say this was, recent model, or say, early 90's. Are you sure you weren't running a Golf GTI?

I don't think IndyJerks knows what a VR6 is capable of. Perhaps the VR6 wasn't even trying to race because you won't beat it by 8 car lengths from stop to top speed, heck he might beat you in the high end.

Boy, some of you TLS guys will post anything.

 

maybe the man made a mistake in looking back at the rear view mirorr... its hard to judge car lengths while ur going fast and especially after winning a race and pumped up...

it prolly was only a few car lengths...

Or it might be a Jetta VR6 AUTO!!! VR6 stick has alot of VROOM... but auto?? It's another story...

I don't think he was even racing you. You had a full car and you beat him by 8 cars? Did he/she have a full car also? I know the TL-S is quick but my girl has a Jetta VR6 and that baby is quick. Unless you're running some mods and a lil NOS...

There is no such vehicle as the Jetta VR6 GTI .. there is the Jetta VR6, the Golf GTI VR6 .. stick and auto in all varieties...

I raced a Jetta of some type (it had been debadged) on the interstate and he pretty much hung right with me from 60 on up to as fast as I wanted to go. Definitely a fast car. I was very surprised and somewhat dissappointed in my TLS. I expected to just blow it away.

 

Don't be disapointed, just be glad you have a nice ride. I understand the feeling. When my TL was hooked up (more power than stock TLS/CLS) I couldn't pull away from a VR6 at high end either and I too was disapointed til I realized that those cars aren't slow and German cars normally prevail agains Japanese cars at high speeds.

My dealer gave a CLS yesterday since my AC broke in my 2000TL. I've driven this car for about 20 miles so far and I have to say that the car is pretty powerful but certainly not a "rocket" as some here claim.
