Porsche is not owned by V-Dub. It is still one of the remaining small private company.
The Cayenne is a joint venture, not due to anybody owning who. Though there is related "family" in management of both companies.

I think VW "partially" owned Porsche... instead of making Porsche part of VW division, VW has SOME stocks/shares.... You think Porsche would let Audi use Tiptronic if it's still a private company??

Just bear in mind that it was Ford who openly said in an article(interview) that they know they are having quality control problems and are trying to fix them. i.e. Their cars are made like $hit.
Ed
P.S. I have nothing against Ford....I own one..look at my Sig!

yeah, but it seems to me that all the major automotive companies have been shaving off the corners a little more every year....so the build quality of yours is probably superior to the a lot of crap that comes out of the factories today.

Even though they are ford based, jags hard core followers will not allow it to be anything less than a jag. I heard it was a fun little car, give it change before you talk $hit..

Ya, but Car & river has rated the Accord as their top 10 more times then any other car. 2nd place is the BMW 5 series. Don’t ever recall a Jag being on that list.

You can put the TypeS up against 99% of the stock cars made in 85 (Porsche, Ferrari, Corvette, etc... included) and it will spank them.. So goes technology.

People love VW’s. People will die for VW’s… Even though most statistics show they fall apart after 5 years and need to be thrown out.

The only possible reason for Jaguar to consistently be excluded from any top 5 or 10 and from luxury car comparisons is because those the editors at Car & Driver, Motortrend, Autoweek, Road & Track, etc are a bunch of ignoramuses!! You want pure lux and performance? Get a Jaguar Vanden Plas Supercharged! (for '02 it's called the Super V8)
Here are some specs:
4.0L AJ-V8
370 bhp
387 lb-ft torque
0-60 in 5.43 sec
1/4-mile in 13.84 sec
Lambswool footwell rugs
Connolly Autolux leather (smooth as butter)
Peruvian boxwood picnic trays
and so on....

A typical Jag 3.0 x-type is in the low 40k range, they are nuts..

Jag is also dumb trying to increase market share by cheapening the brand.

XK8/XJ series ROCKS
S-type/x-type no thank you.....

I much rather a TL or ES or I-30 sharing accord/camry/maxima parts than a Jag sharing modeo (ie Contour)parts......

To me Jags were something to shoot for, like a dream car or something. I think the current XJR is simply wonderful and the XK-8 too, Ford did an Outstanding job with these cars and whipping them into shape.

I dunno 29k Jag, that just cheapens the brand and I will never consider the X or S type true Jags.

I think you missed the point. The supercharged Jag is more appropiate to be included in tests together with S500 AMG, 750iL, S8, Bentley turbo, than in tests together with Accords, Camrys, C-class, 5-series. Because these super luxury cars comparison tests will only be interested by maybe 5% of the population whereas the other cars are more affordable by a much larger percentage of the population.

true, true.....Jaguar just happens to be my favorite car company (like you couldn't guess:p )....and I felt the need to promote its greatness. BTW, has anyone seen/heard of the new XKR-R? 410 hp w/ a 6-speed manual tranny riding on 20" rims with P-Zero's......OMG!
