jag vs tl
I think his friend has a 1985 Jag, maybe a XJ-S or XJ-6 12cylinder and 6 cylinders. I don't know how fast the v-12 one is but I don't think this particular car is all that quick for a V-12. And to think I've seen one of these with home painted racing stripes!
And as far as the X-type Ford Contour.. I mean Jaguar goes, I've read it has a 231hp v-6 and a 194hp v-6, both Ford Duratec motors. Hmmm, maybe its the all wheel drive and the manual that makes it peppy.

The wrench itself actually began to bend on me, what the hell? Could'nt change it. The wrench broke
Jaguar could'nt even make a simple lug wrench....What a P.O.S.

Even if it's a V-12 you might be able to pull on him. Those V-12's of the past was really made for high end speed, rather than 0-60 or 1/4... I remember racing with a 850i and beat him all the way up to 112 mph than after that it was over the bimmer just past me up like I was sitting still at 112 mph... Now today it's a different story, the 550 Marenello's, Aston Martin Vanquesh, etc.. all the V-12's made today has a flat torque curve that is fast all through and through...

So basically I'll still call it a Contour so my fellow Americans can immediately relate
And this "Jaguar" even uses 20 percent actual Ford parts.

OK, we'll get technical here. It shares its platform with the European Ford Mondeo which was sold here previously as the Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique until lagging sales dropped them from the US market. But the Euro Mondeo has been recently redesigned and thats what it's based on.

Relax mon, I'm not "talking $hit".
I like it's styling and it's gonna be a fun little sedan yes. But Jaguar is owned by Ford and I'm sure alot of us would have never thought a Jag would be based on a front wheel drive compact sedan, you know what I mean? I'm sure the "hardcore" Jag fans are split on this one. Were you talking about the Ford/Jaguar engineers or the Jaguar fans?
Ford brought in alot of much needed cash to Jag and revived the sales with the s type. And Jaguar is getting stronger, but I'm still a skeptic when it comes to it's reliability. (Though it has improved since Ford became it's daddy.)
And yes, I know my car is a Honda Accord

Just letting you know that it will be bad ass no matter if it's a ford base or not. The hardcore jag followers are also the major jag stock holders. I don't think they would sit down and let Ford do wrong for the company's name. Look at what Ford is doing for Aston Martin. The new Vanquesh is bad a$$ ride... True Ford doesn't make the best cars, but it's their managment and r&D that kicks butt... I promise you Ford will even turn the broke a$$ Land Rover back into a elite. I heard the new Range is in a joint devopment with Ford and BMW... So my Korean buddy I am not mad, just trying to make a point! Besides even if our TL's are Accord's, they sure are great cars...
About Jags reliability, I think they have gotten better after Ford acquired the company. Jag was dying because of its poor sales and quality problems. I am not saying Ford was any better back then, but Ford spent lots of cash reviving Jag and made them better. It's kind of funny, because Jag now has better build quality and reliability than Ford. What's up with that?

yeah, having "Ford" and "reliable" in the same sentence seems kinda weird....but believe it (well, at least when it comes to the new Jag's). Jaguar's schedule for its XJ-series is once a year.....and I think they're all covered under warranty. Older Jags used to have electrical problems but this is our second one and we've had no problems.

there should be an international law, stating an american car company cannot own a european company....since it just doesnt seem rite and...lol what ever...
jags are beautiful cars, but when we were kinda deciding between tl-s and s-type... jags seemed to be not very practical... most of them only have few cup holders...rear seats are so uncomfertable...lol... but i love their leather, wood, the ship skin rugS!! hehe

This owning thing is confusing me. If Ford owns Jag, not Jag is Ford, than this means Saab isn't GM, but GM owns Saab? What about Opel and GM? Opel is GM, did I get this right?

GM owns Saab, Opel is "GM of Europe" to me like Ford of Europe
Ford owns Jag, Volvo, Mazda, Ford of Europe, Aston Martin, Land Rover
Chrysler/Mercedes
VW/Audi owns, Seat, Lamborghini, Bentley and Skoda.
BMW and VW owns Rolls Royce (don't ask specifics, it's confusing) something happens in 2003.
Fiat owns Ferrari which owns Maserati, along with Lancia and Alfa Romeo.
Lotus is owned by a Malaysian company called Proton.
Rover/MG but BMW owns the "Mini".
And my biggest disapointment, La Renault Groupe owns Nissan!
At least Porsche's are still a Porsche. Oh wait, forgot about the Porsche/VW SUV joint venture.
A Porsche/VW SUV,
Porsche Cayenne, oh my goodness, armagedeon time is a coming
I may be wrong and I might have missed some. But cut me some slack, this stuff is confusing
Please correct if I'm mistaken.

It's a very confusing situation with BMW and VW. And yes further evidence of armagideon time is coming. Roll's and Bentley going there separate ways......
here, read this on the RR page;
http://www.rollsroycemotorcars.co.uk...yce/index.html
It says on the site that they might split....it's still "uncertain". And how can they split if they're both owned by Volkswagen? And only the Motorcar part of Rolls is owned by VW: http://www.rolls-royce.co.uk/rolls-r...rs/default.htm

fahoumh, I'm just writing about stuff I read in the past....if I remember right, it's something like BMW is gonna have the right to the name Roll's Royce and Volkswagen has the actual company without the being able to label it a Roll's. See how it's confusing....
it's too confusing to care.......besides, it doesn't matter who owns Bentley and Rolls, they're both always going to be the epitome of luxury. Just thinking about the endless hand-stitched leather and "acres" of wood......
The deal is confusing... BMW had rights to both RR and Bentley.. The Arnage and RR Silver whatever it was called had Bimmer V-8's. Then later in the future the rights split to where Bentley is owned by VW and Rolls by BMW...
VW is one of the largest Auto company's in the world. They own Audi, Porsche, Lambo, and some other company's I forgot what else.
GM owns Caddy, Saturn, Pontiac, Buick, Opel, Peugeot, Daewoo( I don't know if deal went through or not) Gmc, Chevy.
Ford owns LR, Jag, Aston Marton, Volvo, Mazda, Lincoln, Mercury.
No car company is really original except Honda, Toyota, and BMW... all others are doing major platform sharing. Not bad, but not original.

hmmm...
I bet in the next ten years, they'll probabaly be 3 car companies left.
As well.....on the discussion of jagaur speeds.......my mother has a xk8 (hardtop, non supercharged) and it's still very quick. In the few times I've driven it, i think it could run with a tls.
