Lets get the facts straight
1. M3's with SMG and built for the US DO have Launch Control software. It doesn't launch at 3500RPM, but at 1850RPM. Because of this, most people just turn DSC off, select S6 and punch it.
2. There has been NO successful attempt to transplant European software into a US M3 - there is really no need. However, ytere is an experiment currently being tried with Eurobahn softare - a small aftermarket company.
3. There are MANY 3 series posing as M's. BMW has recently begun requiring VIN before selling M specific items, but that doesn't stop the r1c3r aftermark stuff.
4. The SMG version of the M only makes a poor shifter better. It is NOT any quicker than the 6 speed version...infact the 6 speed posts 1 tenth of a second better times (0-60) than the SMG or is dead even with the SMG. Why? It's the same gearbox the SMG just applies the clutch for you.
5.Unless you are highly modded, I doubt you "smoked, trashed or stomped" a stock M3 - - - that is unless the M3 driver either missed a gear, OR was just playing you. (It should be noted that I don't believe ANY of the M3 stomping, trashing, or smoking any AMG product, unless the above situation.)

How far back did you have to go to find this thread? Nice, timely way to chime in...

I suppose you missed the fact that this board is now geared to people beating M5's!
Sheesh...

The M3 coupe is 3,400 lbs and convertible is 3,781 lbs, not 3,200.

I just don't know about this......street racing has too many variables. The E36 M3's are quick.....yeah, they may run mid 14's, but their trap speeds are 96 + mph. E46 M3's run 104-107mph in the 1/4th. Both of these average speeds are WELL above the "standard " 92-93 mph traps that a TL-S has. Anybody that thinks their 3500 lb 260 hp car can keep up with or beat a 3200 lb 330 hp M3 doesn't believe in the laws of physics. You may beat the driver, but you won't beat the car. I've driven the new M3 and the TL-S......the M3 will stomp the TL into the ground without even blinking.
