It's hot as hell in Florida without AC

As you can see from the title I have a serious dilenma on my hands. I'm not exactly when this happened, but whenever I press "Auto" on the climate control system not happens...I mean absolutely nothing happens. No cold air. No hot air. Just the LED telling what the temp should be cooling to...HELP!

Need more info. Does the AC works if you control it manually ? If it does, then you sensors must have some issues.

Just a thought.,

Does anybody know if this is an issue with our cars? I haven't ever heard much about anyone with these issues. My last car, a '93 Mazda MX-6 LS had mulitple A/C issues, was a pain in the ass.

off the top of my head, there's a fuse panel to the right side of the passenger's side dashboard....if you open your passenger door, you'll see it by the hinges...it'll say fuse panel...at least that's where it is on the 2003s....however there might be another one in the hood, but i doubt it...

Okay...found the fuse panel under the hood for the 2000 TL, but didn't see anything out of whack...of course I have no clue what I'm looking for.

You need a manual to find out which fuse would be for the A/C. Otherwise, I'd just take it off of recirculation mode and crank the fan up all the way (unless the fan is what's not working). Or go to a dealer, how many miles do you have? Seems like it's gotta be the fuse.

The fuse panel under the hood has a listing of the fuses on the top or bottom as a reference.

the interior fuse panel is loacted on the left side of the dash directly behind/beside the sunroof switch.

says fuse on it.

i think anyway.

Our cars don't use Freon aka CFC-12. It deletes the Ozone layer. R-12 is no longer made in the states.

However our car uses a different refrigerant, so you might be right. The refrigerant might need to recharge if it's blowing hot air.

I didn't read thru all the post above but, does your compressor still come on? does the fan? Is it just blowing hot air or not responding at all?

Ok, I know that R-12 is not used today, but isn't R-132a called FREON?

R-132a is easier to leak out, it's smaller gas. If a leak is real down the compressor will not go on it all. I think if it has any gas it might turn on turn off (watch the compressor to see if it is working at all). But if gas is real low the compressor will not go on it all. You need to check the R-132a is still in, if so then it's a fuse or controller?

BTW leaks will look like an oil stain, but if it's the coil inside you can't see that.

Does your fan still come on? It happened to me before, I replace my fuse under the hood for the compressor.

No, (chlorofluorocarbons) aka (CFC) aka (R-12) is call Freon by common name. The R-134a and other used today are (hydrofluorocarbons) HFC or such. They don't have the common name Freon.
