IPOD/Casette Input on the TL

The casette interface for the TL works great and is cheap.

Just letting you guys know that for 12 bucks this is a great option.

I use a cassette adapter for my PSP, and it works pretty good as well.

I just don't like having the thing loose in my passenger seat all the time.

I've been looking for the right way to connect my Video iPod to my TL. But until I find the right one, the cassette adapter is gonna have to do it.

The cassete adapter is not the greatest, but for a few bux you wont care if your TL cant play burned cd's.

The Best Ipod Setup

-Blitzsafe M-Link Honda To Ipod Connecter
-$20 Bracketronics Universal Gadget Holder (From BestBuy)
-Ipod Video
-Ipod Skin

This is my Setup...its somewhat costly but i think its worth it...for the blitzsafe and bracketron its about $90...U do have to customize the Bracketron but its nothing any of you guys cant handle im sure...not only does it play through the CD button on ur TL crystal clear...but it charges it as well so u can watch endlesss movies...heres some picssss ive been meaning to upload..

I bought the cassette adapter for my iPod but the thing is so noisy in my tape deck. Is this a problem that everyone has? I bought one tape adapter and thought that it might be broke so I took it back then I bought a different one and that one still made the same loud noise. Then I thought it might be my tape player so I went out and bought a Beach Boys greatest hits tape and there is no noise coming from the tape player other than the music.
Is this a problem that everyone one is having but they just deal with it or did I just buy two turd tape adapters?

Do you know the sound I am talking about though? It's like a light grinding noise coming from the tape. It's not the actuall sound quality that is bothering me.

I bought a cheap tape adapter from walmart. If you turn off the dolby noise reduction and raise the volume on the ipod, you'll get a very acceptable sound with a decent s/n ratio.

I listen to classical, and I can sort of hear it whirring in the deck on very quiet parts, and if I'm really listening for it. Otherwise it's not a distraction. I'm using a Sony adapter that I had laying around for like 6 years, not sure which one you got.

Also, they have FM transmitters out there that broadcast an FM signal near the 88.1 range. They're like 40 bucks.

Yes it does because I installed my own Alpine changer in 1999.

Stick your finger inside the tape deck to try and wiggle the adapter. On my 88 Legend I would always have to do that to get the loudest sound because it wasn't always aligned. Haven't had that problem with the TL and this walmart adapter.

Neo Ion

I just purchased a Neo Ion...awaiting shipping. How do I take apart the dash to hook the unit up to the back of the factory stereo? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

what are you talking about?? i have a blitzsafe adapter on my 99HU

you could tell mine is a 99 from the 4speed shifter. i use a 3gig Sony MP3 player for mine which fits nicely and hides away into the little "Not an Ashtray" tray.

Here's a pic of the tray closed. the little control knob underneath the tray is my amp controller for extra bass boost.

Neo Ion

I just installed the Neo Ion in my 99 TL. Does anyone know how to get the stereo to play the ipod? I am getting a charge symbol in the top right corner of the ipod screen, so I know it's hooked up correctly. Anyone had this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If a Neo iOn cable is plugged into the aux port, yes.

Another vote for the Blitzsafe... As you'd expect, the volume controls work on the steering wheel...

If you decide you want the one button that advances a song to work on your steering wheel, it'll cost you another ~$100.00 using the Neo iOn... I have to admit, I did consider it for a while...but in the end, I decided that it was not worth it...

I have a Scosche cassette adapter and tired it out yesterday for the first time in my 02 tl, using a Sandisk Sansa e270 mp3 player

for some reason when i poped the cassette in the factory HU seemed not to like it. It kept Prog (switching sides) as if it wasn't recognizing a side. I could hear the music for a split second so i know the mp3 player is sending a signal. but then it would change sides again. eventually after changing sides 3-4 times would automatically eject.

i hope this explanation was clear.

I bought a ipod tape adapter from best buy last month for $18. Its made by the brand Monster, so you know the sound quality is gonna be good - and I was shocked as its really good quality. I figured to use a tape adapter until I decide on what hardwire adapter to use. And theres absolutely no noise from the tape deck while being played. Very very good for a cheap price.
