intake tube resonator, safe to take off?

Exclamation intake tube resonator, safe to take off?

i took off my intake resonator a while ago and it sounds great but i heard alot of people tlaking about talking off the other resonator thats on the intake tube itself. my qestion is, is it safe to take off since it is located after the filter, there will be an open hole and debree could be suked in, i wouldnt thing much becouse of were it is located but in the rain im not sure. sould i plug it up? and with what? i have a 99 tl=p.

this is where the resonator is located if u need a visual . its an old pic but the only one i could find.

of course you have to plug it up, its past the filter, use a plumping cap or a paint can cap whatever works. But ive heard with it off, it makes a humming noise

i just ran outside to try it and use a paint can cap like you said and GOD DAMN the humming was so loud i couldnt hear myself think!it kept getting louder untill i shuttoff the car! so i put it back on! gayness!

I don't suppose you ever found a solution to the hum using the stock intake?

Heh...if you want to get all nerdy, I'll take my spectrum analyzer outside to find the frequency of it and then we'll know the wave length that's resonating

never did. its in the intake itself. I put up with it. then i did the swap and made my own cai

ya its not worth taking off that small resonator - the humming noise is real loud

use a standard hocky puck. it fits really snuggly right in there.

the humming noise.. you kinda get used to after a while. but when you really floor the car, it does sound freakin awesome.
