Intake resonator

I did a search and was trying to find out if the intake resonator is required to be removed when installing an cold air intake, I couldn't find a definite answer and I'm probably just being lazy, but does anyone know if it is requied to take the intake resonator out in order to install the AEM V2? also can I just, for sound purposes, take the resonator out now and then after the winter season put the V2 intake on?
