intake question - not what you think

Talking intake question - not what you think

ok so i got this cheap short ram intake, i had it for like 2 weeks and then the peice that bolts on to the chassis of the car broke off. my question is, how important is this part, can i just attach the intake to the throttle body and not have it secured by anything else? thanx

oh and BTW: joey, justin, mike, and whoever eles says thats what i get for buying a cheap intake; skrew u

i don't it's that important...it's not affecting the amount of air going into your engine, but i'd still try to at least duct tape it back on.

i put it on mainly to race you and when im flying past you off the line im gonna yell "you get what you pay for"

anyways, its back on, and its kinda loose but i think it will hold. lol hopefully. its only temporary until i hand mike his a$$ in a race

I dont have any experience with a CAI in a TL but if one end is mounted to the intake and the other end to the chassis then something has got to give (break) as the engine moves when it shifts or has a load on it. Thats why all cars factory use rubber ducting . There must be a point in the system to absorb the movement.

You get what you paid for.

Seriously, if it broke on you in only 2 weeks, imagine what the next 2 weeks will be like. It will probably fall off your car while you are driving.:p

I would definitely get something to hold it together in the meantime while you save some $$$ to get a real one.

definitely attach it to something. the intake vibrates like crazy when the engine is at high rpms, so theres a good chance its going to knock into something. as a test, pop the hood and have a friend rev the engine for you.

you should have some kind of bracket holding it in place, but you can probably make your own, just bend a piece of metal.

yeah i rev the engine by the little lever under the hood by the throttle body, it vibes but not that much, i think i do want to attach it to something tho, i get kind of scared when i drive... thanx for ur input guys!
