Intake confusion....

I wanted to puchase the AEM V2 for my 2000 TL-P but found out that the AEM V2 is for 2001-2003 TL's. WTF? I did not think that anything changed from 2000-2001 as far as the engine goes. I'm really confused now.

Can anyone tell me a good intake that will add nice power gains and sound?

Now I see on this site that the AEM V2 is listed as being for 1999-2003.

CAN ANYONE DEFINITIVELY TELL ME IF AN AEM V2 WILL FIT ON A 2000 TL_P? AND WHICH GIVES YOU BETTER GAINS, COMPTECH ICEBOX OR AEM V2? THNX!

Icebox will give you better "gains" which are minimal to start with. The info sheet that came with my AEM said for the 2001-2003 Acura TL. Having a 99, I was worried. With some wrestling and some bolts I had pull from my bolt pile, I managed to get it to fit. Had to remove my alarm horn, but that thing pissed me off anyway. So my answer is this, ask them about the return policy, get the go ahead, order it, and give it hell on making it fit. That's what I did, and I couldn't be pleased more with the results. Best of luck to you.

Thanks TL-Ights, but your stats show that you have a AEM CAI. I am wondering about the fitment of the AEM V2 (which is larger diameter than a CAI). Any suggestions?

I cant find any dyno results on AEM's website. I'm sure the V2 is prolly better but AEM won't advertise results that may deminish another one of their products sales (CAI). If they did that everyone would wait for the V2 to be designed for their car and stop buying CAI's. I just want to know if the F*%KING thing will fit on my ride.

Whoa dude. If you must have intake, get the one I've got. It fits, sounds great and you (99% sure) will never notice the difference from the V2, as well as save a bunch of money.

I was not giving you advice on the V2. I was giving you my experience with my AEM CAI hoping it would aid you in your decision. Didn't mean for you to discard my advice thinking it didn't apply to you.
Hope that cleared some stuff up for you. Have a nice day :smokin:

I would also like to know if it will fit on a 1999. I've asked this question before but I've never gotten a direct answer. Also, how much would a CAI install be about because I know nothing about installing CAI's.

if it fits on the 2001+ it will fit on the 99-00. they are the same car/engine. now if its only for a type-s then no it wont fit. im sure the gains are better than teh standard cai which was dynoed 9-10 hp, the ice box was 11, but didnt have teh sound of the aem

okay i am going to answer all the questions you have so pay very close attention here::: the aem v2 and the injen cold air intake have "about" the same performance. the best intake you can purchase for your car is either the V2 or the Injen Cold air. all other intakes are not worth the money unless you are looking for noise. the performance of the v2 over the injen or the injen over the v2 is debatable and the magazine that ran tests on both got conflicting data with one intake winning one day and the other intake winning in a rerun test so i would recomend you purchase whichever you want. however having researched this topic greatly i found that AEM has caused many users problems and doesnt always fight right as others have mentioned in this thread, therefore i bought the INJEN intake because of their higher quality and in my opinoon better performance then the V2. i am very happy with my intake and have absolutely no problems with it. if u didnt understand wat i said PM me with a more specific question. your welcome
