Question Which Intake Is Best?

I HAVE A 02 TL AND WOULD LIKE TO PUT A SHORT RAM INTAKE ON IT. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYONE HAS TRIED THE WEAPON-R DRAGON TYPE INTAKE OR THE INJEN SHORT RAM. IF SO DO YOU HAVE ANY COMMENTS OR SUGGESTIONS ON WHICH IS BETTER AND HOW TO GET THE MOST FOR MY MONEY?

Why not go for a CAI? They are more quiet and has the most gain.

I REALLY ONLY WANT TO USE THE SHORT RAM MAINLY BECAUSE IT'S A LOT LESS WORK TO INSTALL. I CHECKED INTO THE CAI AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT WOULD BE A LOT TOUGHER TO INSTALL FOR SOMEONE INEXPERIENCED, ALSO THE CAI IS ABOUT TWICE AS MUCH FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN.

Does intake void your warranty?

First cool it with the CAPs. Second, AEM CAI are good because it can be turned into a short ram, so you have more options there. If you live in hot weather(FL, Ca), even in those cold place (NY) Summer can be hot as heck. I wouldn't recommend a short ram. and CAI isn't that hard to install, you don't even have to remove the bumper, but that just makes it easier.

The only good thing about Short Ram is:
1)Easy install
3)Cheaper
2)Easy filter clean
3)More Ricey noises (some of us think this is bad on a luxury car)
4)Don't have to worry about hydrolocking problems
5)Good for cold weathers

The bad:
1)Too much noise
2)Bad for hot weather
3)not that much HP gain
4)AEM CAI can be use as a Short Ram too....so more choices there, vs no choice if you just order a short ram.

No, they have to prove that the intake was the cause of the damage. Else just putting it on can not void your warranty. If you install a CAI and lets say your by pass valve (improper installtion) got sucked into the engine, that will void the warranty.

Yes, Icebox is probably the best worry free intake, too bad it's the most expensive and looks too plain.

Ice box is a better design air box like our stock air box, so yes its an intake, gives the best gain from the dynos I seen, and is quieter then CAI or Short Ram.

Oh yeah! Really stealth with modest gain in performance. Though there's a little hum at low rpms and a nice purr when VTEC kicks in.

Check with Comptech re: hp gains/dyno. Graphs and charts don't matter much to me. If you don't feel it, it's not worth krap.
The icebox certainly improves throtle response.

Check Velocity resources--they have the best price/service.

Installed the icebox myself.

Was it difficult to install? I consider myself a novice when it comes to mechanics. I heard that the Comptech Icebox is easier to install and almost looks almost like the stock air filter. Break it down for me. Can a relative inexperienced person install this intake?

Yes even a inexperienced person can do it (with instructions), the only hard part is bumper removal, you can even do it without removing the bumper but its more of a pain in the butt, because removing the bumper isn't that hard if you know what to do.
