Angry Insurance on TL-S? What are you paying and who do you have?

OK, I'm getting ready to pickup my TL-S so I call my insurance guy who I have like 3 car, boat, home and every other insurance in the world with. And he tells me right now he doesn't have any TL-S models in his system but based on TL-P (what ever this is) it will be about $600/6 month. I have like no accidents, no tickets, married, so what's up with this. What are you guys paying for your insurance on your TL-S?

I was paying $380/6mo on my 3000GT so this was big surprise for me.

I'm paying around $600/6 months too. I'm with Farmers. I'm 25, married, accident free, home and multiple car dicounts...etc. It wasn't that bad to me. It ended up being $180 more than my '94 Integra.

Me too. 24, paying $600 every 6 mos with full coverage on my 2002 TL lease. Got state farm. I was paying about $350 with my old 94 T-bird.

You guys are so lucky - here in NY a normal 6 month policy (full coverage) runs about 1,500

Just FYI...

The TL-P is the TL Premium, which is what they call the 'base' TL.

Here in DC it's a little better than NY but not like the rest of you guys. My insurance would go from $630/6 months for a 1997 TL to $930/month for a 2002 TL Type S. I'm presently insured through GEICO with all the discounts.

SOunds like everyone is getting ripped off then.

I own a 98 Accord Coupe RED V6. Basically it flashes SPEED on every insurance companies screen.

GEICO - 950/6 month. Full coverage w/ 10k PIP.

After checking around for house insurance, I found the best deal.

For DC area. Best deal is with ERIE. I moved my house insurance and my car to Erie. Now I'm payin 950/YEAR!!!!!!!! for my car. That also includes 10k PIP coverage.

So forget state farm...especially forget Geico w/ their fake save 10% advertisements. Check out Erie.

Just food for thought...last year Erie was ranked top 5 places to work. so it isn't some 2-bit small town insurance company...they're pretty big. They just don't need to spend millions advertising their rates cuz most people flock to them already.

$213.90 for 6 months to State Farm. Just $460.20 each 6 months total for the Acura, a 2000 Civic SI, and a 1974 MG Midget. One of the few advantages of being over 50.

$390/6 months for a Safeco Quality Plus (a very good and relatively expensive policy, they are not all alike, you know). This price is full of discounts, not the least of which is one of the few benefits of pushing 50 years old.

My 2c on insurance:

Go through a broker, not a captive like Allstate, State Farm, Farmers, GEICO, etc. With a broker, when you have a claim, you have someone who knows the ropes on your side. Yes, I know this is more expensive. You get what you pay for. Excellent insurers are Safeco, Travelers and Chubb.

Insurance is for the big stuff. Get high deductibles and use the premium saved to buy higher limits.

Consolidate all of your policies with one broker/company. You get better discounts and possibly better service if you have a claim.

If you have any sort of net worth, consider an umbrella liability policy.

No, I am not an insurance broker.

Oh please! I have the most bargain basement piece of trash insurance policy I could find (while still maintaining full coverage) and I'm paying.. get ready for this..

$5200/yr.

and you're complaining about $600/6 months?

My insurance isn't that high because of tickets or anything (yes, I have a few points on my license, however the insurance wasn't any cheaper beforehand)

I'll keep your pain in mind when I shell out
nearly $1000 to drive my car next month. ;-)

You think that's messed up. I just traded in my Integra GS-R for a S2000. I am paying $130 less/6 months for the S2000 than I paid for my GS-R. Needless to say, I'm a happy camper.

I pay $117/month for my TL and my wife's minivan. Haven't checked yet to see if my new TLS will change anything.

This is actually very low, considering Texas has some of the highest rates around (a lot of uninsured drivers all over the place driving up costs).

275/month
26yo
single
clean record

Needless to say, I was a little disappointed.
It's sad, most insurance companies don't even
have the list of 2001 cars let alone 2002.
